1. If you're comfortable doing so, ask counselors or treatment staff that you've grown close to from your rehab if they'll be one of your references.

2. If you need references, ask around if anyone needs work done (cleaning, dog walking, shoveling snow, helping with groceries, anything that you can get paid to do) and do that consistently for a while and then ask for them to be a reference for you on a job application

3. Utilize career centers in your area. They'll teach you how to prepare your resume, how to answer questions during your interview, what proper clothing is for interviews, and even help you find jobs.

4. Look at temp agencies to help you find a temporary job. There's always a pretty good chance that the employeer will hire temporary employees on for a part-time or full-time position.

5. Depending on what type of rehab you were in, there may be positions available that you can apply for while you search for another job. (In my rehab, I worked in the kitchen after I discharged.)
