Clean. Sober. Teetotal.
Celebrating 17 months of being clean, sober, teetotal.
Just felt like sharing that.
I may use this thread to check in as this number grows.
@SilverbackTiger Hi there, congrats on being sober for 17 months ago! You show vast strength and endurance. Yes, please feel free to keep us updated on how you are doing whenever you wish. Thank you for sharing, and keep up the fantastic job! :)
Celebrating 18 months clean, sober, teetotal.
I'm also starting a weight loss journey for the next 5 months too!
Breaking free from addiction and enjoying 18 months of sobriety has taught me I can correct all areas of my life that need improving...
I am so nervous about a 12th step call im going on in like 20 minutes
@Momofteensandtots Hope it went well for you.

@SilverbackTiger
Congrats I am Very proud of you... I've been struggling with my addiction for years and currently have 13 months free of drugs and alcohol. I have first hand experience how long, hard and weary this journey can be.. Congratulations keep going one day at a time..
@AllisonBotts Thank you. I'm so proud of your 13 months sober too! Well done!
Yes, I realize this is a marathon and not a sprint. I'm committed to lifelong sobriety so I'm only happy when this number continues to grow. And it's important, I think, to celebrate each month.
Also, I'm 3 weeks into an 8 month weight loss journey and have currently lost 15 lbs, way ahead of target. I hope to lose a further 69 lbs in the coming 33 weeks to get to my target weight.
So I'm clearing up a lot of my life, improving my lifestyle, and undoing years of damage. :)
Not a bad way to spend my 30th year of life and onwards, really hehe
Thanks so much for the encouragement and support.
Truly appreciate it!
I wish you the very best on your healing journey too - keep going strong! :D
We are on the right path to health and healing.
Celebrating 19 months clean, sober, teetotal.
@SilverbackTiger Woot, congrats on 19 months of sobriety! You are a true inspiration. Best wishes, and have a nice weekend! :)
Celebrating 20 months of teetotal sobriety
@SilverbackTiger
Wow! So proud of you and so happy for you.. Woohoo! Congratulations
@SilverbackTiger That is great!
I'm 1 week away from being 21 months clean, teetotal, sober...
Today I have been tempted to drink whisky...
I am choosing to resist this urge.
I want to celebrate 21 months clean, teetotal, sober in 1 week...
I also know that my birthday is coming up in 3 weeks...
Argh.........
@SilverbackTiger Hi Tiger! I am so sorry to hear you are struggling. We are so proud of your strength and persistence. How are you coping? How have you dealt with urges in the past?
No matter what, you have been an incredible inspiration. We are here for you. Happy early birthday!
@lovelyWhisper66 I resisted the urge first by realizing it was most probably temptation. I'm writing a character at the moment, in my second book, who drinks whisky... And it sort of made me fancy a wee dram.
Then my brain started rationalizing... These are the sort of thoughts (temptations) I was hearing...
"It's been 21 months, you've proved your point. It was the drugs you needed to get off. Sure, you were becoming a full-blown alcoholic too but you can handle that now. You were in way more pain back then. One drink won't hurt. If anything, prove yourself you can handle just one drink. Start small. Just a dram. Try to savour it. Drink whisky how it is supposed to be drunk. etc, etc"
Writing that out helped because I see how they are temptations and the brain is merely rationalizing what was once immensely damaging in my life.
I'm like a Gremlin near water when it comes to addictive substances.
You don't tell the Gremlin to take a cold shower to withstand the urges lol
So I've put the idea to bed. An old self would have gone straight to the shop and bought a big bottle of my favourite whisky, Laphroaig.
I had to acknowledge these temptations to realize what they were.
And sharing here has given me a sense of responsibility and duty not to go for a "wee dram"
I have a lot to celebrate in my life right now; an immense amount.
In the past, those were the worst times for me. I would often be lead down a drugs/drink downward spiral due to "success" or "things to celebrate".
So I think recognising that too has helped.
Just felt like being totally honest and truthful about this stage in my journey too.
