Weed + tobacco bong hits for 6 years

Was smoking weed + tobacco out of my bong many many times everyday for years. A few weeks sober now. Is it normal to feel super depressed and lost? I'm hoping over time I can feel happy again. The gym is helping a lot, trying to sweat as much as I can. Clean the lungs and toxins but getting to the gym is a struggle and to push myself. I'm hoping someone went through this. I just wanna know how long it'll take for the depression and feeling like I wanna lay in bed all day almost to go away. Although I can only lay in bed for about half the day now I get too bored with whatever I'm doing. Super hard to feel interested in the same things I was when I was high. How long to feel happy again and normal?

It is quite normal to experience depression when you leave an addiction, especially one for many years. I am sorry that you're experiencing depression though, and it's nice that you're going to the gym to get it out of your system. Knowing how long depression can last is subjective and individual because it's not the same for everyone.

What do you find is the hardest part about pushing yourself to go to the gym? What other coping mechanisms have you looked into or tried?
