What are some reasons/factors why you are unable to leave your substabce dependency?

Do you have mental health diagnosis? Homeless? family stressor? Truama?

I think it's important to have insight to others as well as our own, incase we were never aware of the other relations with our addiction.

Thank you and have a good day!

im diagnosed with PTSD, Anxiety, and Depression.

it’s my way of escaping and feeling in control through flashbacks and the dysfunction of my family. my weight is the main reason i continue to use. i’ve struggled with body image/weight for years, and unfortunately, still am. my appetite decreases and i don’t have obsessive thoughts about food. in the past my goal weight was to be under 100lb, never over. i’ve met that goal through my substance of choice, however i’m not satisfied, which leads me lose more weight.

I am unable to quit because I obsess with it, I love the life style, making the money to get it, driving to get it, getting and it and then preparing it and doing it. It's all a rush to me. I use alone all of the time. I've been in and out of detox's many and many of times. I want to quit because I know if I don't my life will go nowhere but I get bored and depressed if I don't have it.

Not gonna lie, I don’t think I want to stop doing drugs. When I stop I miss it so much I actually feel like crying as if I lost a family member. I know that’s dumb. But I don’t want sobriety. I’ve been sober for a long time off and on. Life isn’t necessarily worse sober. It’s regular i guess. However life on drugs is more exciting and feels so much better, until I start hyper focusing on bad shit but I blame that on ADHD and not drugs. I get excited to actually wake up knowing I’m going to take drugs today. Without it I don’t really see a purpose in trying to be productive or get out of bed because everything feels so heavy…I don’t know how people do it, I don’t know how people can just be regular. But I’m just not sure I want it. I know I’m probably alone in this and sound stupid but that’s okay.

dont be like me tho. I encourage sobriety for everyone else.

I have dual diagnosis, meaning I have mental health issues on top of addiction. I lost both of my brothers to heroin overdoses and my daughter is terminally ill, they only give her about 6 more years to live (she's 10 now). I just want to be sober and there for her no matter how long she has left because I've missed a big chunk of her life while I was out running and gunning, time I can't get back.
