Day 4: Thirsting for God (Psalm 42)

In Psalm 42, the psalmist thirsts for God like a deer panting for water. He is downcast and in tears, yet he keeps telling his own soul to hope in God. Today's step invited us to name our concerns to God and to consider what defiant hope looks like.
Community discussion question:
Have you ever experienced defiant hope, where you held on to hope in God even when your circumstances made it incredibly hard (5, 11)? What helped you hold on?

We are human so it's hard, at times you feel alone.
Like your prayers aren't being heard.
Like no one is listening.
My hardest times has been during grief .
But in these times I think of the poem Footprints and I remember when there's was only one set of footprints it was because God was carrying me 🩷
