Feeling Misunderstood When Seeking Help
Consider a time when you didn’t feel understood by someone. What was that experience like for you? What kind of things did this person do to make you feel as if you were not being heard?

Help is subjective. Was request for help or problem clearly communicated? Are pieces left out that others may make assumptions about what you meant?
I think many feel not being helped when they have someone challenge them.... to change their perspective or literally change a behavior. While it is nice to tell someone you hear them and feel empathy that is not always helpful.
Many seek help but disagree with the help given. Sometimes we resist help ..... because change requires trying something new or giving up something comfortable. Reviewing our thoughts and accepting we may have been wrong.
The best help that I have grown from ......was people asking tough questions and challenging my way of thinking on issue .....or offering choices that I had avoided. Many faced with this say they are not being heard and may need to rephrase or re-evaluate how what they said came across.
Those tough questions/ suggestions are often responded with hostility as people only want blind support for their perspective even if flawed. Some I think just want a 👍 to feel validated.
Most who ask those questions and suggestions are NOT made to insult or be hurtful but allow a person to see from another view / perspective. Asked to consider other possibilities or answers to a situation.
