Emotions happen fast. We don’t think “now I will be angry” — we are just suddenly clench-jawed and furious. So the number one skill in regulating difficult emotions is to pause. Take a breath. Slow down the moment between trigger and response.

Participation question:

How are you dealing currently with overwhelming emotions? What helps you?

Seeking Help

Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feel depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if you feel they are related to any mental challenges.

@Waterfallsofnature36

Sometimes life just gets crazy, sorry to hear you're in the midst of it atm. Going for walks and reading sounds good as well as petting your cats. I find petting an animal is very stress relieving. How many cats do you have?

@etherealnova

Laughing can be a way to lessen stress. I never found that starting a fight over something lead to a positive result.
