Setting smart fitness goals

Exercise can be a lot of fun and support our physical and mental well-being. However, it is crucial to know what you want to accomplish and then establish a plan for how that will happen. The key is to set  SMART goals and not to set your expectations too high. If the exercise goals become too daunting, people typically start failing to meet them and lose their motivation.

SMART stands for specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely.

  • Specific: The goal should be clear and precise while also serving as a personal motivator.

  • Measurable: The goal should be something that can be objectively measured so that you can accurately track SMART progress.

  • Achievable: The goal should be realistic enough to obtain yet challenging enough to push someone beyond their regular routine.

  • Relevant: The goal needs to feel important to a person and align with other fitness-related aspirations.

  • Time-bound: This provides a deadline and will help people stay on task and keep the outcome goal a priority.

Participation question:

Are you exercising regularly and do you have an exercise plan? What exercises?

What is one of your fitness goals and how can you make it smart?

Seeking Help

Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feeling depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if they are related to any mental challenges.

@amiablePeace77

Oh love exercising! I can feel the dopamine produced after a workout session lol!

So I exercise 5-6 times a week lately, this is part of the schedule I made for myself, in order to have enough time to get ready and go to work. My recent goal is to achieve body fat percentage of around 24%, hopefully to have visible abs within 2 months!
