Simple Mindfulness
Hi everyone 🤗
I thought I'd just share about how I practice mindfulness and how it's become so important for me.
MY Mindfulness (Sarah Robb)
For me, practicing mindfulness on a regular and routine basis as part of a daily skill, is what makes the difference between maintaining calm and/or losing my cool and feeling overly anxious.
Everyday at lunch time and when I come upstairs from working at my office:
I take 3 to 5 minutes to close my eyes and focus on my breathing. I ask myself these 3 questions (to myself):
1.) How am I feeling? If I had to pick a word and describe how I'm feeling right now, what would I say? (When first learning to better understand my emotions, I used the "wheel of feelings" which I can send you if you'd like it- it's a fabulous colorful round wheel that starts off with simple emotions in the middle and breaks down the simple emotions into more complex descriptive words of each emotion.
2.) And, How does my body feel? --(usually my back is a little sore and I'm often feeling a little tired- more tired usually by the end of the day- even a bit fatigued I could say)
3.) and Lastly, I ask: What do I need to do to take care of myself? (go to bed early? Eat a healthy lunch? exercise a bit?)
So, mindfulness doesn't have to be some long or drawn out practice. For me, it is simple and repeated daily.
As a result, I stay more present and my body and mind are more connected to one another.
Building regular awareness for "where I am" physically and mentally helps me to more accurately choose what I need to be doing next to best take care of myself!
And it is worth every minute!
Do you practice any mindfulness? ☺️

@SarahRobbLISWS thank you for this easy mindfulness method. Sounds wonderful.
I connect with my breath whenever I feel stress or have negative reactions starting to happen. It has saved me more than once.

@soulsings Thanks so much! Enjoy your day! ☺️
Thank you for the tag! :)
This seems so amazingly simple. I tend to focus on my breathing first but I've never asked the questions you do. I'll definitely have to try these. I do struggle with naming emotions even with the emotions wheel. But I will try adding these questions and see if it helps with my mindfulness.
Thank you!
@mytwistedsoul I find it takes practice, before I get comfortable. It helps me naming my emotions.
Keep at, my friend. You will get there.
I'd like the wheel please or where to find it..How will you get it to me?
Great
@SarahRobbLISWS
Thank you so much for sharing with us these helpful questions to ask yourself!
Do you practice any mindfulness? Yes, I practise formal and informal meditation daily. The practise of mindfulness became very important to me in order to deal with strong emotions. I often use the STOP technique when I feel negative thoughts and feelings want to take over after a challenging event.
@amiablePeace77 thanks for discussing what you use to cope with mindfulness.
Could explain a little about the STOP technique and what that means?
@soulsings
STOP technique
S - Stop ( I stop what I'm doing in the moment, standstill)
T - Take a breath (I take a deep breath in and very slowly out)
O - Observe (I observe what's going on inside of me and around me)
P - Proceed (I proceed mindfully, continue my day)
It helps me to become aware of unhelpful thoughts and to ground myself so I can continue with a clearer mind which is not clouded by negative thinking.
@amiablePeace77 I know the STOP tech., very well.
@SarahRobbLISWS Thanks for sharing this with us.
Mindfulness helps me to stay calm and relaxed.
You're so welcome 👍☺️
