Not everything is your fault, but it can feel like it when we are feeling down. It is crucial for our well-being to learn to recognize the difference between healthy personal responsibility and unhealthy self-blame.

Participation question:

  • What examples in your life can you think of where you were stuck in a sense of guilt and shame for everything that goes wrong in your surroundings?
  • What questions do you find helpful to ask yourself to get out of the self-blame game?

Seeking Help

Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feeling depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if they are related to any mental challenges.

@amiablePeace77 I felt guilty and to blame for everything for about a year and a half after I was rescued. How to get out of the blame game, I don't know I'm still trying to work it out

how are you doing? Gives you a hug ❤

@Tinywhisper11

Not everything is our fault and becoming aware of that we self-blame is the first step. Self compassion is a powerful antidote to self-blame. I hope the resources given will help you.

Sends a big Ami hug.
