I have a question

So I've been a listener for about 4 days now, after years of not being one. Now, last time I was a listener this problem wasn't prevalent at all.

I noticed, that this time, people are a lot more sexual and not in a some kind of I have a problem way. They're just trying to get me to say sexual things with them. Or they pretend they need a friend and then after that they start with the sexual stuff, which I either ignore and try to asking the right questions or I completely just ghost the person.

My question is, is this normal now as a listener? Or am I just doing something wrong?

Hello! This is not your fault and you are doing nothing wrong. We get a lot of trolls here sometimes and it's very unfair to the people that really need our help, especially in the sexual health category. :(

This is what I did when I was not taking sexual health chats:

- Put at the top of your bio that you do not take chats regarding sexual health. That way it's clear you do not take them.

- if you get a legitimate sexual health chat, just tell them "I'm sorry but I'm uncomfortable with this topic" and please give them the browse listeners link.

If you get something that is against the guidelines:

- Do not engage. SImply screenshot, block and report. We don't want them doing it to any other listeners, and you may be the one to help that happen!

I hope this helps!!

Thank you so much for a concise response!

I will try to make it clear from the beginning that those types of conversations and topics are not welcome with me.

Thank you again for the advice, it really helped!

Have an amazing day :)

You are not wrong, I feel the same its like they want you to encourage that they are doing wild and sometimes disgusting things. I also try to avoid them but dont be discouraged, in time things will fall in place

Yes, precisely that.

Sometimes the unnecessary details or acting "shocked" by their own statements really makes me feel strange.

I hope it gets better for all of us, trolling doesn't make sense to me in general, especially on a platform like this.

Hello Helpfulear, I am so sorry to hear this, it is a real shame when *** use this place as some kind of perverted sexual playground. I believe (and I passed the Listener course up to and including the mock "Listen".) that the best course is to warn them once that this is not an appropriate place for such things and if they persist terminate the chat/listening session and report the person for misconduct in chat.

Don't engage with them, blacklist them if you can, and leave it at that, move on to someone who really needs to be heard. You are a valuable asset to 7 Cups but your safety and comfort as a listener is key to that. Don't let it be compromised.
Namaste,
D.

That does seem like the best course of action.

As someone said in the earlier replies, warning them and making clear that those types of topics are off limits seems like the best solution. I guess I just need to put down more firm boundaries.

Thank you so much for the reply, it helped to read your advice on it.

Have a great day!

Def not your fault! Sadly, some people misuse the platform, but it’s completely okay to set boundaries. Just report/block them immediately so you can focus on members who genuinely need support

Time is very precious 💖

This has happened to me often. I no longer take sexual health issues. It's sad because I don't mind discussing real sexual health issues.ð¤·
