@amiablePeace77 I think my advice wouldn't make a difference for her but I am so proud of how she was and the decisions she took. I would give her the appreciation she deserves (which she never got, sadly) and also let her know that I am stable and content at the moment because of who she was. I am more resilient because of the battles she fought for me, so all I would do is thank her.
God has you right where he wants you, don't let others knock you off of your path. Trust your heart stick with the winners. You can learn anything you want so find your passion ask God to show you. Don't waste time with trivialities focus on your strengths. Build it they will come practice everyday, take your time, go deep. It takes 5,000 hours to be an expert at something. So go and find that something and I'll give you a hint it's not doing drugs. Take notes, keep track of what you are doing and what you like. Have faith and Never give up.
@amiablePeace77,
I would do my best to validate everything I knew and was told was not true or was distorted from reality. I would tell her she will grow up to be strong, opinionated, honest, and if she learns not to settle for less, has a chance to have a VERY fulfilling and robust adulthood. Keep your head down and do not engage with the parental units as much as you can, especially if you feel emotional. Do not let them weaponize the very things that make you the MOST and BEST Amy.
That's what I would tell her now. Finally. I found the real words I have been seeking for 52 years for her. Thanks.
I would tell my 16 year old self : “ Stop having expectations from others. If you wanna do something, do it- don’t think what others might think about you. Start living your life to the best of your abilities and wishes and not to satisfy others- they’re not gonna be there once you step out of this school. If you try to make everyone around you happy, you would end up destroying your own happiness. Take care of your family and trust only “G” as he’s the only one who is gonna be there for you in the long run.”
