The end?

I’ve been in an on-and-off cycle with my ex for years, always holding onto the hope that this time would be different. I really thought we were doing better—but things spiraled again, and now I finally blocked him. And even though I know it’s the right thing, it still hurts.

The turning point was something small but revealing: I played two games while waiting for him to finish his match. I got bored and tired, so I logged off. Later, when I asked if he wanted to play, he got angry and said, “If you loved me, you would’ve played with me.” That broke me a little—because I did love him, I just didn’t want to abandon myself anymore.

Then he shifted the whole thing into religion—telling me I’m not on the right path and that he’s disappointed he couldn’t “lead” me spiritually. Meanwhile, he refuses to get help for himself, won’t go to therapy, doesn’t believe in medication, and hasn’t tried to heal. It feels like he’s using religion as a shield to avoid accountability.

The hardest part? I just got offered a job—something I’ve been working toward and building the courage to do. It’s a huge step for me after struggling with mental health and anxiety. My family even took me out to sushi to celebrate. And instead of being truly happy for me, my ex spiraled—telling me not to talk to guys, accusing me of things, and making me feel like I’m doing something wrong just for existing outside of him.

We argued. Then I stopped responding.

And then came the message: he’s moving to Oregon for a job.

Suddenly, this man who “loved me so much” is gone the second I stop making him my whole world.

It hurts. I’ve cried.

But I’ve also celebrated.

Because I can feel myself healing. Growing. Becoming more independent. Setting boundaries. Choosing peace over chaos.

He couldn’t—or wouldn’t—do the work. He kept bleeding on me and blaming me for not being enough to save him. But it’s not my job to carry someone who refuses to walk.

So here I am. Heart a little broken, but spirit stronger than ever.

Starting this new job. Starting this new chapter.

And finally, finally choosing me.

Thanks for reading. 💛

@Priscella congratulations on your new job. That is wonderful! When do you start?

When I look at a relationship objectively at how things were, I often see that I had rose colored glasses on and I refused to see all the problems that relationship put in my path.

Another way to frame this is life has moved someone out of your life that was holding you back from feeling joy.

Love is unconditional. What I guess they wanted from what you said was obligation and submission to their way. I think you are free of that if you choose to go onto this wonderful opportunity. You are fortunate to have family that supports you. We at 7 Cups support you too!

It’s always good to start anew. Life is in chapters to a story. One chapter ends, another starts. It might be a distraction for now (your job), but don’t bottle up your emotions, cry whenever you want to, vent whenever you want to. Time will heal. It’s very hard to fight with beliefs especially when it’s religious. I lost my mother too with these beliefs. Some things you can’t change, only self-reflection can. I hope he will also see when he self-reflect as to what you were for him. Right decisions are necessary, but painful. But in order to go forward, we have to take it. You are brave, be at it. Do what’s always right for you, even the majority doesn’t stand behind you.

@Priscella I want to say I'm PROUD OF YOU 💜 yes it is hard to let go of someone of who we love but I liked to tell people who do you love more them or you ? Love should not hurt , love should make you not love your own self , being depressed or sick  or lacking take care of yourself . You are right when you stated you can;t heal someone that does not want to put in the work . You found yourself and see how you got bless with that new job another congratulations🥰 . When you choose you and let go of who does serve you in your life everything starts to fall into place . The truth hurt but it also set you free and now your beginning to pour back into you . Wishing you the best in your new chapter 💙
