What do I do?

I have been having problems with my mother for the past year or two. She is not strict, but she tries to get into every crack of my life. Today was my breaking point. She called one of my friend's parents and told them that my friend smokes and drinks. She always does this kind of stuff, and ruins all of my relationships because she thinks I'm a victim. I've tried talking to her multiple times, but she never listens. I can't turn to professional help due to the state of the country I am in.

She's been pushing my dads side of the family away and she calls them manipulators. She herself has went through childhood trauma and has only went to therapy for it a year ago. I'm not strictly looking for answers for the situation with my mom, I just need an opinion on how I should approach this problem with my friend when I talk to her about it, I want to stand up to her once and for all.

@ProtoMania I am sorry yoiu have a problem with your mom. It does not sound easy.

The problem with standing up to them once and for all is you may burn your bridges and find you need help and cannot get it. Another way to handle it is to not react angrily and try to stay out of arguments. I feel better when I do not get tangled in anger.

Your mom may be the lifeline you need right now or in the future. I would not confront her. Wait and see how life changes the landscape without us getting into anger. It is another way that leads to more happiness than playing the blame game.

What I try to do is work on my self and find ways that I can change my attitudes toward others. I am finding it worth a try.
