Backlash from Media relations department at convention
Over the previous weekend, I not only attended but volunteered at in the media relations department. Long story short, I really felt like this team was extremely rude and nasty at times. They were also very unreliable when it came to me working two shifts.
Well after having the co-director manage to snap at me for making a mistake, he was also nasty about not needing me. At that point, I decided to create a silent vlog in which I broke down on camera. I also added captions. However, being that I did not share enough details about them being flaky, I got a nasty email from someone who acted like a flying monkey. They outright accusing me of lying and that I was this bad person twisting the truth.
While I feel bad, I also feel like this is an example of how nasty immature these people act.
Prior to that, their director managed to write me a long email and was much more pleasant. She also offered me some better options and talked about how she enjoyed me.
@Summershy I try not to set up in my mind the idea that people are entirely mean or nasty because often they are just venting about some challenge they face. They have god sides even if I cannot see it in this moment.
Hope the pleasant note helped make some of the nasty comments fade in the background.

I agree that they had other things going on with these people because that con is very stressful. However, I feel that it was not fair for them to take things out on me. I also don't think it was fair of one of them to tell me "Go about your business" like that. I also don't think they handled my situation very well at all.
@Summershy stand your ground and double down. Write a very professional email on how your experience on the team was a very unpleasant one and how appauled were you by the behaviour you experienced. Use this as a ground to negotiate. Tell her that you would like to hear more about her opportunity she offers, and how will your concerns about the work environment be addressed. Take on a calm, professional but still a why should I be working in this circus? Attitude. Make them be the ones who sweat, while staying fully professional. You may squeeze a good one out of it, or dodge a bullet
Also, don't forget to emphasize in the letter how you enjoyed the project or whatever, that you liked the work, but stay firm on the problem being a deal breaker for you

Thanks for your feedback. I was doing to do that but when one of their fellow volunteers outright attacked and accused me of things like that, it turned me off. Right now I would really like some space from that those people. However, I have been in contact with the volunteer relations team about how I was treated. While, I am feeling a little better, I still feel burned out.
@Summershy definitely don´t talk to the person who was a mean one. Be open and honest to the HR. If you choose to step away, that´s okay too. Your wellbeing matters, and if this thing is not good for you, you are allowed to leave and find a better fit 🌻

I didn't react with this person but I responded with
"What are you talking about? I'm sorry you feel that way and you certain get to have your own opinion about me. However, I am not going to sit here and argue with you. I am doing what's right for me. Meanwhile, I just muted the conversation and took screenshots which were sent to volunteer relations department.

I am not going to take anymore abuse from people who can't seem to own up to their actions. I also will not tolerate nasty backlash like that

By the way, I have an update. That department has not only proceeded to retaliate against me but they also managed to start a smear campaign against me. They had the nerve to contact another reporter and his caregiver and turn them against me.

Not only did they attempt to send one of their flying monkeys to attack me but also started a smear campaign against me. They did this through turning another favorite reporter and his support people against me by getting them ban me from their social media page.

Oh I left that department as soon as one of its members was super nasty to me during at the convention. I pretty much went no contact with that group of people after that flying monkey openly accused me of lying when they didn't have all the facts.
