Clean home - clear mind
Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well ![]()
When you walk around in your living space and things are laying around do you believe that your brains recognize it and signalize “This still has to be done” which can make you feel bad?
How does it make you feel going into your room seeing everything is tidied up, does it impact the degree of comfort and harmony at home?
How does it make you feel going into your rooms and things are laying around?
If my home is not clean I get anxiety. I need the cleanliness. I have a saying I tell my children “cleanliness is close to godly” well I am religious so i guess it doesn’t apply to everyone. (Not everyone believes in God, and not everyone has a home, sorry). It’s just a saying I tell them this because cleanliness is soothing an relaxing. I even feel like I can breath better
I can't settle if my home isnt how I like it and I find it even harder when bedbound just now through other health issues knowing that my home needs cleaned and carpets need a hoover and it's out of my control my doctors have said I've not to focus on the things that can't be done concentrate on what can be done which is carers taking care of my wellbeing physically the house doesn't matter right now I'm being good taking my mind off the mess best I can I know it's outside my room but thinking if I can't see it I'll forget but no the love for cleaning is annoying me . My brain knows and telling me lol cleaning for me is exercise my physio a time of peace listening to music and I can go to bed at night knowing I can relax and nothing to worry about if my body says no again .

So sorry you're bedbound right now, I can understand that it's hard to accept that things at home just have to wait until you get better but your health comes first now. What your doctor said sounds like a mindful exercise - focus on what can be done and not what is out of your abilities atm.
I wish you a speedy recovery 💙
@kez1981 yes focus on getting better sounds like good advice.
When i see my room all messed up it gives me anxity that i still have so much work to do and i cannot rest before that.it makes me think what if some guest arrive right now and what will they think of me.so i always try to keep things in place and very tidy.
Thank you I've not been lucky in my health but working with all the people who have my side to get these feet working so I can enjoy cleaning again even if I'm slow it doesn't matter I can't watch others cleaning for me not yet anyway lol
Thank you so much I cannot believe how lovely you all are on here I'm was telling my mum this should have been around so many years ago would and could have helped so many others as with everything I joined in the past or forums I spoke to picked on your illnesses, issues and vulnerable side I love the way 7 cups is set up I've never felt so safe to express myself until now I was looking up apps to support myself and here this one was I feel so at ease on here x
Best app I can ever say had the pleasure to come across and I showed my social worker so she could try with other clients see if can help them in anyway as so many of us out there needing an amazing outlet instead of writing in a diary express on here to others I might not be on for a few days starting a new medication in the morning and can make you feel spaced out but I'll miss being on here see how it goes I know you are all not that far away x
I try my best to keep things clean but it doesn’t always work, and when the house is small and cluttered it also doesn’t help. I have been living in my current house for over 4 years now and never felt it to really be a home as it is half the size of my last house, and that in itself makes me look around at everything so tight together with no room to swing a cat and makes me bad and not want to be here.

Having less space in a new home can be really challenging, particularly when you have many things from your old home which you brought with you. I could imagine that whilst walking around the home you might hear an inner voice telling you "It does not fit, not enough space". Do you believe it could help to sell or give again some of the things you have and might not really need to create more space?

How does it make you feel going into your room seeing everything is tidied up, does it impact the degree of comfort and harmony at home? I have a little method I use to help me organize things. Things I find laying around on the first floor that belong on the 2nd floor get put on the stairs so the next time I go up they go up with me. If I trip over it I am sure to take it with me lol.
How does it make you feel going into your rooms and things are laying around? It is messy. But I like to do little cleanup projects. That makes it easier.
@soulsings
Putting it on the stairs so you can't forget what goes to a different floor in the house is a smart idea

I like to have things neat and organized.
@greenYard2803
Nice greenYard, being organized saves time.
@amiablePeace77
Thank you. How about yourself ?
@greenYard2803
I like it clean and organized, too lazy to search for things ![]()
A clean and organized space is calming to me and not distractive so I can think better.

How does it make you feel going into your room seeing everything is tidied up, does it impact the degree of comfort and harmony at home? I am a perfectionist, I can not stand clutter. I have to have order. Old saying EVERYTHING HAS A PLACE AND EVERYTHING IN IT'S PLACE.
How does it make you feel going into your rooms and things are laying around? I have no peace in clutter or disorganization
@scarletPear1945 nice to hear that you keep things neat.
