Design a Beautiful Day

Hello online therapy sub-community! :)
Positive psychology is a great tool in building the muscle of happiness and we can all experience more of this if we identify areas that we need to work on and continue to build upon our inner resources. It has been found there are 3 dimensions to experiencing happiness: feelings of pleasure and operating from the growth mindset, experiencing the good life and flow so someone does not get overwhelmed by their work or their huge to do list and just gets involved and positively engaged and finally deriving happiness from meaning-making which will all help you to reach a flourishing mindset.
This exercise helps you to open yourself to positive events and to visualize a beautiful day for you to experience in your mind. If you can make it happen! I know it might not always be possible so if it's not possible, visualise the event and absorb all of the feelings of happiness.
You might want to ask yourself the following: What do you love to do? What do you enjoy that they haven’t had a chance to do recently? What have you always really wanted to do but have never tried?
Pick a day in the near future and design the day with the following tips in mind:
- Some alone time is fine, but try to involve others for at least part of the day.
- Include the small details that you are looking forward to in your plan, but don’t plan out your entire day. Leave some room for spontaneity!
- Break your usual routine and do something different, whether it’s big or small.
- Be aware that your beautiful day will almost certainly not go exactly as planned, but it can still be beautiful!
- Use mindfulness on your beautiful day to soak in the simple pleasures you will experience throughout the day.
Please share your beautiful day with us whether that is a visualisation or an actually amazing beautiful day. Whatever happens please have fun and enjoy the moment. :)
@LisaMeighanMBPsS Thank you very much for posting this! 💙
@LisaMeighanMBPsS wow this is an amazing exercise.
I once did this when I was much younger. I enjoyed playing music and I wanted a beautiful warm environment to stay in. So I imagined Hawaii was the place to go. I applied to the school there and studied many things including music.
It was a magical place. On my way home from school I went by a pomelo tree (thick skinned grapefruit) and I enjoyed the fruit of the land. There were fruit trees in many places.
One memory I had that sticks with me the most, I was floating in this lagoon and looking up and the sun was setting and I was floating in this warm water just soaking in the sunset filled skies.
That was my fantasy day. After living there I started to realize paradise is not some place out there. It lives right here within my heart.
Thanks again for making a place to share a day in the life. ❤️
@soulsings
This is such a beautiful description of a wonderful day. I agree with you that paradise is in the heart and we can carry it to all places we go.
@amiablePeace77 thanks ami. I appreciate you confirming that feeling.
@soulsings…
I just love this! Thank you so much for sharing as I could really picture this. Wow!
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
When I read your post I immediately started to visualize a most beautiful day to me and it feels good, so thank you very much.
This is how my day would look like, part of it actually happened years ago.
Friends and me are walking through the forest, it's a place where nature shows its charming wild beauty. There are tall trees everywhere, some of the trunks look like master pieces of artists. One can smell the wood, the leaves, hear the sound of birds and here and there a green monkey is showing it's face to see who is there. We all walk together, we're a strong group, never leave someone behind alone. With us are our dogs, some have Golden Retriever dogs, others smaller dogs, I have my German shepherd mix and my black setter mix dogs with me. It's an amazing experience for everybody. It's feels free - away from concrete buildings, the business of towns but out in nature where I believe we belong.
@amiablePeace77 your fantasy carries me away to a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing.

How truly beautiful. I love the idea of walking in nature with your pets who bring you so much joy. So simple but so amazing to really connect in nature with yourself.
@LisaMeighanMBPsS, My perfect day happened not too long ago. First, I had a relaxing morning, drinking tea and meditating. I made clothes, did crafts, and went through my word puzzle for the afternoon. Those are all my favorite hobbies that I love to do every weekend. Lastly, in the evening, I watched TV, meditated again, and ate my favorite dinner, which was breakfast. I love this question, and I am glad to be a part of this discussion 😊.
