Helping Others

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing okay and that you will have a wonderful week 😊

Being of service to others can bring a deep and lasting sense of accomplishment. It feels so good to make a positive difference in some else’s life! And often, after connecting with someone in need, our own troubles come into perspective as the petty annoyances they often are, rather than the life destroying tragedies we make them out to be.

💡 Today, I like to ask everyone to share one or more times they helped someone and how it made you feel when you saw how grateful the person was.

@amiablePeace77 I have had times when as a listener I spent time with a member who needed to talk things out. They seemed to put all the pieces together and it felt good to be a participant in that.

Helping someone doesn’t always require multiple sessions or a lot of homework and sharing like I thought it did. I considered, at best, I was applying a bandaid with a small amount of adhesive. That only therapy could really help them. That changed when I chatted with a person newly diagnosed with borderline personality. I’ve learned so much since my diagnosis, and it became evident that they were craving knowledge also. As well as communication with others who could understand their struggles. I began chatting about different symptoms and possible causes and each time tney would just beam with relief and said several “how did you know that” “ to me… “ just lucky guess”. I modestly replied with so much satisfaction in having a small part in their healing. Then with joy, I shared all of the wonderful things 7 cups has to offer them. All the ways to give as well as receive. Communities for most mental issues and struggles , 24/7 groups , vast amounts of attainable knowledge, training courses, games, leadership roles , sharing of stories, your feedback , wellness test and personalized growth paths. Accomadations for teens and adults, attentive moderators, trained active listeners always ready to chat. Training if they want to become a listener, at their own pace. Always available 24/7. Over a million members from over 50 countries. Translators available too!! Free courses at their own academy. Recognition for hard work. Certificates and badges are fulfilling to earn. Welcoming them to a supportive family of unconditional and eternal commitment and support was so gratifying for me. To be the one to inform them that they hit the jackpot when they found 7 cups. I’m still fortunate that we chat as tbey tell me about their experiences here. I had both a direct and indirect role in someones road to healing!! How do I find words for that???!!!!!

I find as a listener we offer support but we also learn a lot from our wonderful members here. It's truly amazing what 7cups offers but knowing to have been part in someone's healing (to whatever amount) is the most heart warming feeling to me.

Thanks for sharing your helpful post.

One time I talked with a member about their issues and after some time they texted me again expressing gratitude for that one time we talked saying that just this one time helped them so much. That made me feel very accomplished. And very proud of myself. Remembering that one situation helps me get through times when I feel useless.
