The 3 Good Things Project
Hi everyone,
I hope you are well and thank you for reading this thread today! Often in our life, we might focus on the things in life that are making us feel unhappy or perhaps just not going how we wanted them to go. We do not spend as much time nearly as we should focused on the things that actually did go reasonably well!
In this reframing exercise, we are going to share daily what 3 good things happened to us and went well in our lives. It can be really simple and seem insignificant to you but please do share! Gradually the practice will open up your awareness into all of the things that did go really well. Once you have shared what went well, please writing down your reasons because then you can relive the positive moment.
The exercise stems from a positive psychology exercise and has been proven in individuals to increase their levels of happiness, increase resilience and work from within to help people feel more balanced and happier.
I'll begin with my 3 good things:
1. Today I went to the park with my children and whilst it was a short visit we were outside in the fresh air and my children had a great day! I felt like we had taken a break from being indoors which as we all know is very important to our wellbeing
2. I am able to spend quality time with my family and this went well today because it made me feel like I had done something meaningful in my life
3. Something very simple but I have a clean kitchen which makes me generally feel more settled knowing that things are in place :)
Please share your 3 good things and why it went well for you!
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
This is such an awesome post. Thank you for this!
My three things are:
1) I hosted my first AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on here today, and it was absolutely funtastic! Because of the replies, and just being in such a peaceful and supportive space made me happy.
2) I started journaling, and it went/is going great because I've never been able to find such peace in journaling in the past and now I do, so it's pretty amazing.
3) I got the house to myself today, and it's normally very full. Some alone time is always great for me!
Thank you again for giving the opportunity for us to reflect and be grateful like this. You're super duper awesome!
@xoBeebosBubsxo
Wow, way to go with your own AMA. They are fun and can keep you really busy :) What was the topic?
Journalling is such a therapeutic tool and it's so great when you can go back and have a look at all of the things you have experienced. I am glad you enjoyed it :) please keep sharing what went well in your day!
@LisaMeighanMBPsS
Hehe, thank you! It was an AMA for the Care Team. It went super well! And yes, I'm beginning to realize journaling is absolutely fantastic :)
1) I completed 2 exercise classes today
2) I made homemade ice cream, mayonnaise and guacamole
3) I organized the basement and eliminated things unneeded.
@soulsings
Soul, homemade ice cream wow! It is the best!
@LisaMeighanMBPsS thanks !
Hi. I am new to this space, but I thought I would jump right in. My three things that went well today:
- I made the right decision to take the bus to work instead of riding my bike. This was an important decision because I had had a rough yet oddly welcome afternoon, and I needed just to sit for a bit. (But I did ride my bike home!)
- We got an amazing amount accomplished at work tonight. This is important because the pandemic’s impact on employment has meant that the second shift only has one or two people each day. The store is in a bit of chaos because of the lack of staff, so it has often been hard to resist the temptation to fix all the bits that are a little haywire. Tonight I resisted.
- I had a great nap this afternoon before I had to get ready for work. That’s important because since I work at night my sleep schedule is difficult to keep regular. I need to have enough rest to get through the next eight hours, and my nap today was great for that.
@crimsonChestnut5482 welcome to Therapy Subcommunity. It sounds like you are in tune with your body and doing self care. Good for you!

- I took a walk first thing in the morning.
- A work meeting I was worried about actually went well.
- I ate a healthy lunch as opposed to the left over pizza in the fridge.
@blueTown7167 wow that is taking good care of yourself. Way to go.
