Congratulations on speaking up for yourself and asserting your boundaries! It's important to prioritize your own needs and communicate them effectively in relationships. By expressing your desire to do something else while at your boyfriend's friend's house, you took a step towards self-care and creating a more enjoyable experience for yourself.
Setting boundaries is a crucial aspect of maintaining healthy relationships. It allows you to establish your limits, needs, and preferences, fostering a sense of respect and understanding between you and your partner. Learning to set boundaries promptly can help prevent feelings of boredom, anxiety, or resentment from building up.
Remember, open communication and mutual respect are key in any relationship. Continue to communicate your boundaries clearly and kindly, and encourage your partner to do the same. This will lead to a healthier and more fulfilling dynamic where both of you feel heard, respected, and valued.
Great job.
I’ve met someone recently and we’ve been spending some time together, and sometimes it feels like we are not understanding each other.
but then I step back a little and ask myself what is it that I’m really feeling/wanting at this moment that is causing this undesired situation. And I can understand it, and then I try to communicate it. And it turns out that they actually are feeling something similar, and we make up and get past it.
it’s so strange how similar people are, but we put guards up and think others don’t feel the same way. And then we get into undesired situations, when, in fact, honest communication is all it takes, even if it means putting oneself in a vulnerable position.
@compassionateCar7091Glad you are learning to set boundaries. I hope you had fun after you left.
