I sat in my new apartment, having spent the day unpacking and settling. Connor in his room playing fortnite, Nik was at work. I opened up the balcony door to get some air into the apartment. Made a coffee and sat down to relax on my laptop. Then I heard it. POP. I felt my heart rising into my throat. My gut screaming that something was wrong. But see, I've been shot at before in my ambulance. I have PTSD from this incident a year and three months ago. It was regular for thing like noises to set me off. POP. "Connor are you getting a lot of people" I yelled to my sons room. "Mom that wasn't me" I looked out the balcony down the nearest sidewalk and saw a young man on the ground. "Crap!" We have it drilled into our minds about scene safety, but I could see the blood from quite a ways away.. this dude needed help and he needed it now. I slipped on my shoes and ran down the three flights of stairs, adrenaline racing. Then I heard another Pop. I called 911 and reported that there had been a shooting and gave them an address. The cool air hit me as I ran towards the first victim. GSW to the leg. I saw other people attending to two more victims as I took off his shirt and used it to apply pressure. Then I heard it. A child, little girl "MAMA!!!!" crying out scared and alone. "Hold pressure" I told the young man, "Where are you honey?" "MAMA!!!!!" she cried, I saw the flashing sneakers on the ground beside the dumpsters. I ran over "Hey sweetpea, I'm P, I'm gonna help you okay" I said gently assessing her quickly as I spoke. Gun shot to the back of the head and chest wound. "Okay" she sputted out through her tears. "MAMA!!!" I applied pressure to her head with my left as I reached for her small blood stained hand with my right. "I got you sweetie" She squeezed my hand with such strength and power. Scared. "MAMA!!!" I held her hand for what seemed like hrs, watching her alertness "Hey what's your name sweetheart?" I asked her, She couldn't have been older then 2, "Gabbriella" she said. "Okay Gabby, I'm gonna find your mama for you and we are gonna get you taken care of, alright?" "Okay P" She closed her eyes, "No Gabby I need you to stay awake for me" Nothing. Still breathing, still has pulse "Gabbriella!" I yelled, nothing, I let go of her hand and did a sternum rub, "Ouch" she slurred. She was fading, and she was fading fast. "Where the f is the rig!" I said out loud. I had nothing. No kit, no IV, no monitors. NOTHING. Finally I heard it. The sirens. Two medics jumped out of the truck and started working on her. "MAMA!!!" she screamed reaching for my hand. They got her into the truck and started an iv and sedated her, I held on to the little hand until she let go sending her on her way to get taken care of

Sorry if any mistakes in here. Rushing this got to head in for a shift ;) take care everyone
