EMDR therapy for trauma

Hello folks I am new to this group and just wanted to reach out to see if there are any members who have any personal experience with EMDR therapy?

I heard from somebody that when they did EMDR they felt like they were hit by a bus. I guess everything too fast. I don't know a lot about it but it was recommended by one professional but my Dr didn't think it was good for me. Something has to give though!

It can be alot. That is true for me.
But I think the therapist is supposed to be careful that you just deal with things in manageable pieces or from a manageable distance
