Easter Check-In 2024
Hello everyone,
This weekend, for some of us, we celebrate Easter!
Why do we celebrate Easter?
The story begins the Sunday before Easter: Palm Sunday. On this day, Jesus enters Jerusalem and is celebrated. Then on Holy Thursday, Jesus has the Last Supper with supporters. Later this day, he gets captured, as one of his supporters, Judas, had betrayed him. Because of that, he gets crucified the next day, on Good Friday. And then, on Easter, he rises from the death. That's why many Christians celebrate Easter. To finish the story, 40 days later, on Ascension Day, Jesus goes back to heaven. 50 days after Easter, on Pentecost, the Holy Spirit shows themselves to the apostles which leads to Jesus' supporters starting to proselytise.

HelloZz, so I usually attend church on the good Friday of Easter because there's a service. And then we go home and in the weekend we usually spend time with family and often have like Easter egg hunts, no matter how old we get. Then on Sunday we go for church service again and then after that we just want to sleep because we'll be exhausted 😁🤣

I 'm from China and here we don't celebrate Easter. But we do have The Qingming festival Which is kind if like Easter (It a time where we go out and enjoy the spring plus remember those who had passed …)
It's on April 4 (based on lunar calendar) and we have 4 days off from school and work. Most people would go home and visit their elderly, spending time with family and sweep the tombs of the passed. (Which means social anxiety attacks for this girl. 😭)

@audienta Hi audienta. Pretty good! Alexa suggested I add shredded cheese. Mixed in pretty well with the French fried onions.

When I was a boy, my sister and I got Easter baskets, with things my mom had bought for us. There were jelly beans, which I think were inside those plastic Easter eggs, a few chocolate-covered marshmallow Easter eggs, a chocolate bunny, and two Matchbox cars. That happened through the age of ten.
We went to Sunday school at a Lutheran church from the age of five until the age of twelve, then there were two years of Lutheran Catechism. While we were in those two years (it wasn't at the same time - my sister is two years older than I), we belonged to the church's youth group. The youth group prepared the pancake breakfast which was served after the sunrise service on Easter Sunday. I was in charge of setting up the tables, arranging them and covering them in white paper.
After all of that, we didn't do anything for Easter anymore.

@audienta I'm not a Christian, I don't class myself as any religion. But I do believe in God and angels and heaven ❤ all the other residents here at the care home have gone home to celebrate easter with their families.. So it's pretty quiet here. But I have my guinea pigs 😁❤ I'm celebrating by eating chocolate eggs😋😋

We have egg hunts, dye eggs, then we celebrate with a fairly large meal and enjoy each other's company 😉

@audienta I went to a small Protestant church service on Good Friday and saw some old friends. I went to a large church with a choir on Resurrection Sunday as I prefer to call it. Later that afternoon I went to a potluck with some Christian volunteers from different denominations. I took a long walk with two older ladies I had met. I then said goodbye to them and later sat to rest and pray inside a Catholic church where there was no mass at the time. I lit a candle. The next day I was sore and in bed all day from so much weekend exertion. I have chronic fatigue. But I'm glad I has an active weekend and the chance to be with people.

I've ME/CFS so I know the pain of the aftermath of a good day. But I'm still glad that you could have a nice time with people you like and your faith. I hope the flare-up hasn't been too bad! Sending spoons! 🍴(pretend there's a spoon there as well 😁)
