Coping Mechanisms

Coping mechanisms are the strategies or techniques we use to manage internal and external stressful situations.

We all have different approaches towards coping with painful / troubling emotions.

Some are healthy, some aren’t that healthy. Either way, they are an important part of our journey towards healing :)

@cuteeeezombieeee

How are you doing? How has your past week been?

My days are not going that good as there are just so many triggers daily but I am kind of getting habituated to them so now towards the end of the week, my crying has significantly reduced. I am not sure if it's good I am getting to face my triggers daily...maybe I am getting more okay with everything not sure.

What coping mechanisms do you turn to when faced with difficult situations?

My go to ones are:

1. Deep breathing exercises

2. Crying and isolating myself for some time

3. 5-4-3-2-1 grounding and guided meditations especially with wind chime sounds

I’m doing okay. It’s been really hard recently as I’ve had time to unpack everything that happened to me as a child. And I’ve been so angry. At my mother specifically. Like I don’t even want to be in the same house as her anymore.

Hello, I am in a journey of healing and doing all I can to enjoy the journey. A healing heart in the works. A work in progress.

I am new to this community. I have browsed 7 cups for awhile now. Putting my toe in the waters. Decided to jump in. 😊 I handle coping with different methods and techniques. I have decided to introduce and try 7 cups as a new way.

How am I?

I am alright, can’t go wrong with allright, huh? Lol

How was last week? Good Busy and also

Last week, sadly, a special family member (cousin) died to Covid last Wednesday. She was so sweet, kind, beautiful, early 30’s, married, had a young son, age 9. I am sad and at a loss of words about it at this time. She is the granddaughter to a very special aunt that passed away in 2004. They are dancing and crafting together now.

One of the traumas is many deaths in my family since I was young. Suicides, homicides, natural and unexpected losses.

I have had many traumas, from many areas of circumstances and incidents. I desire to work through them rather than sweeping them under the carpet or compartmentalizing them. I often wonder if the not completely working through them to complete breakthrough/ break free to freedom is preventing and hindering my growth, peace, genuine joy, and better health and wellness.

I generally am quiet mostly. I keep pretty busy most of the time, which helps me to not think or overthink much about the traumas. Trauma is real though; it shows up uninvited and unwelcomed a lot. It can creep in no matter what, where, or how.

Well, unfortunately I am sick since last Friday. I am forced to be down, resting, and to be still, which probably is not such a bad thing, but is uncomfortable for me as I have my thoughts and heart to hear and to take care of. Hope this isn’t rambling, I’m awkward and want to get better at expressing myself. I desire to be here for others as well.

Hope this is posted to the right area. If not, please guide me to the best way to do this. Or either way, please let me know the right way.

I’m easy going, love myself and others, enjoy to learn, and value to do what’s best for myself and others.

Here is to a new day!
