Happy New Year Trauma Community!

I'm not one for making resolutions to start off a new year. Seems like a lot of pressure and I don't like to set myself up just in case they are unreasonable goals.

What I do like to do is reflect upon the last year and what was good and what was not so good.

- What was the highlight of your past year?

- What did not go so well this year?

- What was an unexpected moment of joy you experienced this year?

- What was the biggest thing you learned this year?

Share a little, share a lot, just say hi. heart

This was a bumpy year. I had a couple surgeries, my kid's best friend died, turned out my spouse had been lying to me for years.

But, I managed it...and I have decided that is good enough.

the best thing for me this year was finally taking steps to deal with my trauma and realizing that it's possible to get past it, even if it's difficult. it's scary but empowering. wishing the best new years to everyone heart

What was the highlight of your past year?

Somehow managing to start a relationship. Finding support here in 7 cups.

What did not go so well this year?

Depression's been in a record low this year, along with pains and aches. Lost some ppl in different circumstances and struggled keeping a job. Tons of nightmares, especially towards the end of the year. And tons of self-hate.

What was an unexpected moment of joy you experienced this year?

Falling for someone. Did not expect that to happen in a million years.

What was the biggest thing you learned this year?

There are ppl out there who care. You just have to find the right ones.

- What was the highlight of your past year?

I've gotten back with my therapist, which has been extremely beneficial for me, and I discovered a new band that I now love more than almost anything else.

- What did not go so well this year?

I was very depressed a lot of 2018 and was harboring painful feelings from my past that I was refusing to acknowledge. I have been so stressed and unmotivated, and I beat myself up for that. I haven't been treating myself how I should. A lot of times in 2018 I just couldn't see a light at the end of the tunnel.

- What was an unexpected moment of joy you experienced this year?

I fell back in love with playing an instrument and was able to find an escape through that.

- What was the biggest thing you learned this year?

I cannot ignore my feelings. That won't make them go away. It's okay to grieve, even long after you're supposed to. Even if it doesn't make sense that you would be grieving. Whatever you're feeling is completely okay and is worth being acknowledged.

- What was the highlight of your past year?: Meeting my GF in February. I never thought I'd Find someone as lovely as her. We've both got our issues, but I'm so happy to have her here, and to be there for her too.

- What did not go so well this year?: Self Care. It went out the window somewhere halfway through the year due to stressors that I have very little control over. I'm working on getting back on track.

- What was an unexpected moment of joy you experienced this year?: There are so many I cannot choose one. All those small moments between lovers and friends that I cannot live without that I've been missing for so long are back <3.

- What was the biggest thing you learned this year?: That I can't put off taking care of me for taking care of other people. It's my default but it's not a very helpful one if I can't be stable. It's one I keep coming back to again and again. I really need to get it through my thick skull.
