Hi guys :) I don't know about where all you folks live, but today in the UK, its a bank holiday so I have a day off to chill and do my own thing for a change, without pressures of life, work and so on getting in the way :)

How about y'all? I hope today turns out to be a good day for you all, and a better one than perhaps some of you had yesterday. What are you plans for the start of the week? Have you got to roll yourselves out of bed for work? See to the children? Walk the dog? Or just chill infront of day time telly until you also wake up! lol Any plans to meet up with friends, attending some event, playing some sport?? I hope you have a great day today for you deserve that.

Healing from trauma, is tough work and so this space is for you to share whats happening in your world, how your healing process is doing, whats happening in your life, whether good, bad or inbetween. What positives have been happening for you lately, what achievements do you feel you have attained recently?

Please check in and let us know how you are doing. :)

No holiday for me today, but I did on Friday. Tomorrow is therapy day. I'm not enthusiastic. :/

@KatieMoon1 Therapy can be tough thats for sure and I know a lot of members struggle with getting themselves to therapy because it is difficult but perhaps try and see therapy as a journey of self discovery and self growth, rather than just about dealing with trauma issues. Sometimes putting a different slant on things can help to make you feel more able and motivated to use your therapy space and not back out when the going gets tough

Thanks! I hear you. My struggle is that I am very closed in my emotions, especially the painful, anger inducing feelings - and this inevitably brings up some stuff that I am forced to confront and feel. Sometimes I dissociate through it, but our goal is to move me away from that and through the emotions. This is just beginning for me and it's harder than parenting. Ugh. Often times afterwards I am left feeling raw and vulnerable - unfortunately I still have to go to work, so I have to find ways to cope with being opened up like that, without zoning out for the rest of the day. That can be dangerous (like if I'm driving or taking care of my kids) or troublesome when I am at work. It's a gentle balance. I'm still testing the waters on how to do this "feeling" part while still trying to function in the rest of my day to day life. It's complicated and overwhelming.

@KatieMoon1 Having therapy, getting in touch with emotions and feelings and trying to manage safety surrounding dissociating is very hard. If you have a good therapist they will be able to work with you on ways to manage your feelings and whilst therapy may bring up painful emotions, hopefully she will teach you some strategies for managing this too. The thing is if you dont have therapy then your still having to carry a heavy burden on your own but hopefully with your therapists help, things will become easier for you

i tell myself that the only way to the other side is through, there's no short cut. That means I have to feel some of this and figure out ways together to cope with it. We are going slowly, and that helps. A little push each time is what I can manage, even though it sometimes feels overwhelming.
