Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check In - Monday 2nd July 2018
Good morning & Good evening for some people ❤️
So it's happened. My counselor has gone on vacation! In my head I know he not only has a right to, but he needs to! However, my heart feels sad, scared, maybe a little mad.
I'm wondering what's your experience is with your support system going away for a bit? How do you manage it? How do you self-care and self-soothe? How do you miss them?
Learning to handle times away from professional support is hard but important healing work. It prepares us for the real world I suppose. And most importantly, it literally shows us that we HAVE indeed connected and attached in a safe and healthy way to someone! One of the goals!!
This is a safe place - yours to share anything or just say hi. And for anyone who would like, here is a safe hug ❤️

My therapist is trying to get me into a space where I dont need it.
the thought of it makes me ill!
@NancySV1
Yes yes yes yes and yes!!!! It also makes me feel terrified and ILL. 😳 We know deep down it's sorta the point of it all. But at the same time, it's to much to think of letting go. Let me suggest to you, what I've been saying to myself (and not super successfully i might add) - try and remain in the present. Enjoy the now!! For right now you have exactly what you need. The future will come. We cannot change it or stop it. But if we think to much about the end, we lose the joy and gift that it right now. ❤️❤️❤️ Use the amazing time you have now to lean deeply into this support. Be thankful to them and don't be scared to really really talk to them! I am slowly learning and discovering that when I do, I feel something I cannot explain. Something I haven't known before - Safe love and support. There is nothing like it I'm learning! And I don't want to lose any of this by feeling ill about the end. Because God has a way of turning what seems like endings into new beginnings ❤️❤️❤️
I can totally relate to what wize wrote. I dont think i've ever had an issue with missing a support network. I guess because ive never fully developed one.
Dont get me wrong, I have had some very supportive people in my life but for me being supported feels uncomfortable, its reaching out of my comfort zone and something I try to push myself to do when I need it.
Place like this is great where its anonymous and already there is that sheild from attaching to people. It makes me feel more comfortable sharing....that kinda makes me sound like im ungrateful person doesnt it.....but I dont think its lack of gratitude....I just like the lack of attchment, because if I felt attached to the person I would Feel guilty for sharing difficult stuff, worrying them, etc..
What I have had difficulty with in the past is missing not being able to support others, either due to time constraints ,location, personal mental health issues etc.

I do understand what you've shared. It's so "easy" on here to type and talk with fingers. We know deep down it's real - and it's not - the trick becomes figuring out how to turn support into somethinge we get and then give. The healing comes in this constant journey I think. However, I think this is a good start! For all of us! Maybe it's ok to know we can turn to each other in a zone of safety, so-to-speak. We all have the same issues, just read each thread. Fears. Hurt. Being unsure of worth. Even the ability to get up and just try...anything. ❤️❤️ For what's it worth, I am SO glad you are here and that you shared!!!!
