A quick check in today as Im heading away for the weekend, (so I may be slow to respond to you, but I will, I promise).

The story of a man visiting the circus:

As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.

He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. Well, trainer said, when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, its enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.

The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldnt, they were stuck right where they were.

What do you think about this story? Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?

@DeborahUK Hi Deborah!!! Thanks for the post. Yes, there are a lot to learn from the story. Limiting beleifs are one of our greatest enemy. I am struggling to finish my schedued tasks. The works piled up. If things continue on this way, I will surely get fired. Please keep me in your prayers.

@butters45

Hey butters, I hope you manage to find a way to prioritise those tasks. Make some headway and hopefully firing will never be an option.

After my super awesome day yesterday I was too hyper too sleep and consequently I have been in bed all day absolutely exhausted fighting off a migraine haha. But I have good hopes of being able to sleep on time tonight so I hope that will actually happen. After weeks and weeks of stress it would be nice if I could get me something close to a sleeping pattern.

Like the elephant story, we are basically the same from the conditioning in our childhoods I guess. I plan on breaking out and breaking the other elephants out with me. My eyes are hurting too much from reading things online so I am going to go back to resting now. I wish you all a happy saturday xx

Hi everyone,

I was having a pretty good day today as I have been taking care of my friends pupster for the weekend. I took her to the dog park, released her from her leash and watched her as she zoomed in and out of the trees. Oh, what fun! Suddenly she stopped and gazed at the remaining leaves on the trees blowing in the wind. Her head held high and ears flowing with the wind, her focus was amazing. A mindful pup who was enjoying her freedom with such glee.

The parable is perfect. For many years I was truly afraid of what life would be without the only ties I had known. It was a scary slow process, but each day I would try to stray away from those bonds. Looking back to ensure I was still okay. With every positive experience, things became easier. I still have thoughts or old beliefs that I struggle with some days more than others. I suppose the difference is that I know what it is like to have that taste of freedom. It allows me to keep striving, ask for help when I feel stuck and be patient as I know the process is worth it.

Safe travels to you and wishing everyone a peaceful evening.
