Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-In Sunday June 3rd 2018
Good Morning Alle, I hope everyone is doing well.
I awoke this morning silent and still. As I recited my vows and put my tork on it began to rain. I geared up and headed outside to sing my prayers and greet the sun. It was so quiet except for the rain. Alle were silent and so I too sat and watched. As first light came in I could see 3 deer in the middle pasture. Birds sat high in the trees awaiting their werm. I melted into the earth and became part of it. The deer passed right by me as they left, so close yet they didn't see nor smell me. I couldn't resist barking out a good "BOO" lol. They jumped high in the aer an took off. My laughter broke the silence for alle and the birds began chirping, the dogs barking, and our horse Sif started demanding her morning hay (such a greedy one she is lol). As I came back in I reflected on the stillness. I thought there is always some chaotic factor that creates change. A pebble makes a ripple on still water, a spark ignites the hearth, heat makes the icecream cones melt. Today I was the chaos in the stillness, Loki if you will lol. Perhaps I broke the silence of the morning, but Sif got her hay early, I taught some deer a lession in paying attention, and I made it ok for the birds to sing. An interesting beginning to the day.

My days been really difficult , I spent a few hours having to talk and now my head is so busy and I dont know how to mange it .
i was given a teddy bear that they said would help comfort me , Ive never had a teddy bear before and struggling to understand what Im meant to do with it.
Am l meant to talk to it? Hold it? Throw it? How will this bring me comfort ? I really dont understand .
i do really feel like an alien in a world l know nothing about.
grownups just expect that I understand .
@sincereJar9515 I don't know Jar, I never had one either. Perhaps hold it an if you feel like talking to it or throwing it, go for it. Sorry you're having a rough day, perhaps it's time to tune everything out and watch some cartoons?
@Raveninthelabrynth you got lots of cuddly animals to hug but we would share a bear if we could
@sincereJar9515 say hello bear and make friends then when you trust bear you can hold it and pretend it's a safe hug when holding cos the bear won't hurt like people can. They can sleep safe in beds as well so it's not as alone
@Raveninthelabrynth I woke up crying, I don't know why tears won't stop but aren't mine
numb and dark. Why do people promise things they always break
Am I in the right thread to talk about a recent traumatic experience I had? I joined 7 cups because of my depression and cognitive issues, but this traumatic incident is not because of my mental illness. FYI, I do have a Therapist and Psychiatrist I see. I'm just looking for a way to talk about it, I think.
@KAPEKODorBUST Hej Bust, Welcome to Trauma Support. We don't get too deep into our issues in forums so as to avoid possibly triggering others, but yep you came to the right place. If you wish to speak in detail you may pm me or any of my colleagues on The Trauma Support Team. Hope yer day is going alright
@Raveninthelabrynth
Hi, I totally understand about the triggers and I don't intend on discussing any specifics but rather talk about how to deal with a traumatic experience and sometimes just have someone to talk at is better than what I have available.
I have a near impossible time sharing anything so it won't be very much info or for very long anyway.
Thank you
@Raveninthelabrynth
Hello all. It's late here now and we have an early start tomorrow - there's 35 of us travelling to Japan on a work / sports trip. It's going to be an amazing experience but I am naturally a little stressed out about it all. It's a big group and most of them will be enjoying themselves wanting to go out and party every night. I don't drink and would rather go out and explore this beautiful country. I need time on my own to recharge and we are going to be very busy for most of the trip.
But it's a really good group of people and I know I'm not the only one to feel this way, a little stressed despite knowing that we are going to have an amazing time. And most of them know me well enough to not question if I tell them I need some time on my own.
This week will be the fifth anniversary of my mother's death. I have, unfortunately, an excellent memory for dates and events and such, and I can't let the day pass unnoticed. There's a feeling of dread in my stomach at recognising the significance of the date but still having to get on with my day and socialise with people. Nearly every year up until now I've managed to take the day off to find some personal space, some peace for quiet reflection. I probably won't have that opportunity this year, and I'm not sure I will be able to explain to my colleagues why I might need their consideration. I get a painful and tight feeling in my chest when I think about it, so I'm trying not to think about it.
I hope you have all had a kind and restful weekend, and are looking forward to the week ahead.
@Roslyn992 So sorry to hear of the date before you. Like most here I too have "aniversaries" of bad things. Over time I have learned to give a piece of these days and pay homage to them, but with the rest of the day after that, I have learned to take them back for myself. We can't live somber forever and to allow a full day planned each year becomes self defeating. May you find your way to balance with this.
Ok Japan sounds really awesome, perhaps def put down some time for yourself an ask the hotel for a guide to take you to cool stuff? No one needs experience it alone, and local knowledge kicks arse
I wish you a wonder filled and safe journey and return my friend
Today was a pretty good day. We had my cousin's First Communion today, so it was a pretty good family day. On the way home from my aunt's house my ex messaged me though, and I don't know what to do. I left him 3yrs & 1 month ago, to the day. May 3, 2015. I don't want him in my life, but idk what to do with what he's saying. Like, I feel like I'd be the bad guy if I basically told him to go away and leave me alone. But that's exactly what I want him to do.
My day has been sad. I dropped my daughter off at camp today. She will be gone a week. I am grateful she has this opportunity but I miss her already. I worry about her. My anxiety is really high right now and I can't stop crying. I think I'll go hide now.
@RedHawk6547 Always hard letting them go, but it is good for them to experience the freedom in a safe environment, as well as it is good for us to begin to get used to. It's hard when we must realize our children have their own lives, their own interests and desires, and their own free will. Best to let go a little at a time then be slammed.
Hugs Red, I DO know this woe, just know if you let them fly, they will come back sometymes
@Raveninthelabrynth - Wow, how beautiful and what great examples of mindfulness and awareness. Thank you so much for sharing that and your thoughts about it with us.
I also believe there needs to be a catalyst for change, but sometimes that doesn't need to originate for external sources - but can come from inside of us, our willingness to drop the pebble on the waters surface, our willingness to say BOO to the beautiful silence, our willingness to take chances and change what circumstances in our lives we might be able to change. Stillness is beautiful, but so is movement and progression. If we find some stillness it is absolutely okay to enjoy it, but to become resigned to it puts a pause on our growth and the potential for our lives. My thoughts on the subject. Of course, I am going through some stuff lately which has me very introspective.
Weekends alone are hard. During the weekdays, I spend most of the time at work, surrounded by supportive coworkers. During the weekends, I am alone with my thoughts. Some weekends are a struggle. I am not used to waking up alone. But I try to reach out to my circle of distant friends when the depression starts to stretch and wake within me. I try to make plans with people for the weekend, but so far they have fell through for weeks. I try to meet new people to be friends with, but it's a long vetting process before I can commit to hanging out with someone totally new. I'm trying. Today I woke up, missing someone I'm not sure was ever even there for me. I sent out a barrage of texts and have been texting distant friends all day. It's okay.
I'm so exhausted lately that it's become a bit frustrating. I might start taking one those One A Day vitamins/minerals. That's a way I can take care of myself without too much effort. When I have my car situation figured out, I might even go get a checkup with a doctor... maybe. I hate doctors, being poked and prodded and asked personal questions, and judged and possibly told bad news. But it's been years. So maybe something I've been thinking about. It will take a lot of courage, but no one else is going to take care of me, so... it's on me to do the right hinges for myself now. We'll see.
@wontwakewontsleep Well observed an spoken sleep
Freedom and solitude are new to you. I know well those dark wee hours when ye just wish someone was there to say hi to. Like alle, this takes time. We need to relearn how to be ourselves alone without the distraction of others. As we are a very social creature, this is no doubt difficult, but when we find our comfort and peace with ourselves, it's almost irreplaceable to have these times of solitude. I know well in my heart you will come to find this comfort, and take to the excitement of brave new things.
Much Love My Friend, just a biof time and acceptance
think of na good side, ye can sprawl across na bed in every direction without interruption nor complaint
Minus my real living situation feeling like a prison, I had a nice dream last night and I made dinner and it turned out awesome. Chicken and steak fijias
Wow a super long, but totally awesome day.
Much Love and Respect Alle, may you rest easy.
*Raven bows to alle and fly's away
I don't know about mine, but yours sounds like such a wonder-filled beautiful world Raven. I'd love to be in it forever. Being the chaos to break the silence once in awhile is nice ![]()
@loyalDrum2337 Hugs Drum. My world isn't perfect, it like everyone elses is full of sorrow and tough times. I just learned to keep my focus on the wonder and beauty around me as well as take care of my business. When doom pops up, we tend to it as we can and keep our eyes on better things and not wallow in the doom.
@Raveninthelabrynth Thank you so much for the hug <3, sending many to you. Yes, but that is exactly what makes it beautiful, the peace in the chaos, and that that is what you keep your eyes on. You are truly amazing Raven, your world could be the best or worst, but you decide that, you make it what it is. That's really wonderful. Take care, hopefully I will see you in another post or check-in XXX
