Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-In Sunday March 4th 2018
Hi Everyone, hope alle are well.
Today is a special day for me. Today marks three years since I took my destiny into my own hands, injected Estrogen for the first time and began my biological transformation to make my body match my brain. This was one of the most significant points in my life in many ways. This was the moment I took my entire world and really began to change it. At the time, I was still a slave being used and abused every day. Taking this step was when I began to open my eyes and I began to fight back against those whom had been controling me. To me, this is my real birthday, the one I claimed. This was the beginning of my new life. My proper life as the person I was meant to be. This was the beginning of my freedom from the prision my body was, but also my slavery. Taking this action into my hands gave me the courage to fight back against my abusers. I got in alot of trouble with them and they hurt me worse for it, but that really awakened me. I was free of my abusers, and the hundreds of men that used and also abused me six months later. My path has by far not been an easy one since but I am free and finally happy with the person I am and I am becomming. What a Glorious day for me, to have the chance to re-write ones entire life, body, role. This is definately the strangest life I have ever known.
We alle have our aniversarys of things, but here we mostly talk on the bad ones. Tell us of one of your Good aniversarys, share your saga, or just say hi if thats what ye got today. The World Is Yours! This space is for you, please do feel free to use it.

Please help me. I dont do well with completely open ended things that require I come up with something on my own. I need suggestions. Please? I have to submit this tonight and thats my fault for not looking at the sheet before but I really need help with this!

@BeeLeigh
Hi Bee,
Did you come up with a few ideas?
@Compassionatelistener108
No, I don't know what to do for this. If you have any suggestions, please let me know, because I only have 6hrs to get this figured out and submitted! :(
@BeeLeigh
You can even do something like placing a snack or candy in the middle of the table during a meeting. You can play around with the variables. Have someone take one and see if others follow, tell people it may be there for the next group and have someone take one hoping it wont be missed, etc. Really easy in a lab environment.
*You can also place something that needs to be thrown away in an obvious place as Rain mentioned, pretend like you are filming something else and see how many act if they believe it is on camera v. off. Social media is a powerful motivator.
It really depends on how much you all covered. Milgram, Stanford experiment, by-stander effect, etc. Moral, Social and other theories are abundant.
@Compassionatelistener108
Milgram, Asch, Stanford Prison, Sherif, Kramer, there's actually a lot of them discussed in this chapter alone. This is for Social Psychology, so there's plenty more discussed throughout the book, and most have also been discussed in other classes. I like Rain's garbage one, but I can't really think of how to use that one for the whole assignment. The candy/food on the table actually seems fairly easy to use for this. I think I'm gonna try and work that out. I really hate open ended things. I need choices. I'm not good at picking from thin air, and I've already had to do that for another class this week for a research paper! Thank you! :)
@BeeLeigh
I am glad it helped you think of some options, Bee! If you need anything, please dont hesitate to ask. I hope it works out well. If you need specific information, feel free to PM me and we can play around with some ideas or variations.
You have this 🤔
@Compassionatelistener108
I used the snack on the table with 7 variations. Thank you for the suggestion! I can work within guidelines but Im really bad when its just completely open ended!
@BeeLeigh
Good job! Sounds like you did a wonderful job 🍨🍬🍦🍰 or time for a blizzard 😉
@Compassionatelistener108
Aww thanks!! I might have to stop for coffee on my way in to work tomorrow as a treat, cuz it
@BeeLeigh I like the idea of having a few of you standing in the middle of a pavement staring up at the sky and seeing if others do the same lol would be quite funny or placing a bin in the middle of pavement with a large piece of rubbish in front of it and see who would conform to placing it in the bin - dunno, my brain is too tired to think lol
@Rain45
I'm probably just not thinking about this right, but I literally can't think of how the garbage one could be used for conformity. If one person were to place it in the can, then that would be it, wouldn't it? If all the confederates were standing outside looking up at the sky, the goal would be to see how many people conformed and looked up too, but if a confederate places the garbage in the can, then there's no garbage for the other person/people to put in the can. Right? Am I thinking about it right? I can think of another experiment that was something similar but I can't remember which class it was for or what it was called so idk. I'm tired and I'm trying to do this one and three things for my writing class and I only have an hour and a half left and I'm just...idk lol
@BeeLeigh i guess the way i was viewing it was most people would put their rubbish in a bin so if they saw a big heap of rubbish how many would conform to society norms and pick it up and place in the bin lol maybe i overthought it lol And regarding the conforming to looking up to the sky I guess that would be more about testing conformity, in terms of if you get enough people doing something eg five of you in a group does this sway other to then conform to the same behaviour. Imagine walking down a street and you see most people looking up even though there is nothing as far as you are aware to look up for, nothing out of place and so on, would the pressure of seeing so many people conforming doing one behaviour push you into doing the same, therefore you also conforming to the norm at the time? lol
@Rain45
Ah, yeah, that makes sense! I actually just use bags and put em at the curb on garbage day cuz I got sick of no one else in my house taking the cans down! That could
I was going to go on a date tonight but I couldn't even bring myself to ask my parents to watch my son because I know they'd just act like I'm stupid and the worst person in the world for even thinking anyone might be interested in me so I canceled last minute. :,( I thought I had finally found a safe place for my son and I when we moved in with my fiancé but then he started hitting me and stuff and he was always yelling at me and making fun of me AMD now we're back here with my parents and I can't afford to move out and even if I could they probably wouldn't let me. All I ever wanted was someone to love me and not hurt me but we'll never be safe :,(
@independentPear5622 Hugs hon. I am sorry yo fell into a bad one. They are out there, But so are Good Folk. Keep your heart open hon, try looking at some different kinds of men in the future perhaps. But for now, Rest, Chill out, Cry here with your Survivour Family.
@independentPear5622
I am truly sorry about the pain you felt during the abusive relationship. You must also be very courageous to have found the strength to leave with your child.
I hope a good person will enter your life at the correct time and show you the love and security you deserve. There are many kind people in this world so try not to give up. Sometimes we just see more of the negative individuals than those who are genuine. Timing is everything so take some time to heal after such a traumatic experience and enjoy your child. They grow up in the blink of an eye.
We will be here beside you when you need to talk or just need someone to be present with you. 💛
Well folks another long day here in the cup. Thank you alle for sharing these special moments, and some woes with me. It's wonderful to get to know everyone and see some of the good they experience, and we are always here to share in each others woe as well.
Much Love Alle

@modestwillow Hey Willow, welcome to the Trauma community
Hi, Its Teresa and Im checking in.
Its really hard for most of us to think about life-threatening trauma in our lives. Just recalling hurts sometimes.
The wifi system of my apartment house is now broken now and the people of the company says they are fixing right now, but I dont know when it will be fixed. So frustrating!
Im writing this at cafe.
I send everyone of this forum my warmest hugs.
This month, my spouse and I have been together for 10 years. That's a really long time. It's a third of my life. We have struggled a lot, things have been very bumpy lately, but we have also overcome a lot and accomplished a lot together. I can't deny how far we've come. I wonder where we will be when we are 80 years old, which monsters we will be battling then.
Like many others in this thread, I am not have a great weekend, but I am trying very hard to appreciate that it isn't much, murch worse. There was a possiblity it would have been very bad indeed. Now it's just bad. It's funny, in a dark and sad way, how worse things can somehow make bad things look more tolerable.
