Traumatic Experiences Community Daily CheckIn - Thursday 15 of June 2017

Hi everyone
We all know that life is rough. Our days are long and stressful. We are burdened down with abuse, neglect, just plain pain in our days and life. All that is roaming in our heads and hearts.....what about gratitude? Where does that fit in your days? Where does that fit into our healing and really "moving on"? What is gratitude?
The quality of being thankful, readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
What are you thankful for?
What are some things you can be more thankful for?
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow
Please share with us on some things you are thankful for. It can be a poem, a drawing, just some words-anything. Be creative- come on-I cant wait

I am thankful for life and the wonderful friends I've made here.
I wish, want and hope to show more gratitude for all you wonderful people.
Truly. you're the best!
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Today, I'm grateful for a certain listener. Other than that, I'm not feeling much gratitude atm. The despair is too high...
It's not Thursday for me yet, but here:
I'm grateful that I have such a huge family, even if it's stressful at times. My step dad was adopted, so he grew up as a part of someone else's family. I've had my family in my life all along. Whether I love em or hate em (and some definitely fall more in the "hate" category).
I'm grateful for my best friend, because she's always there for me and I love her to pieces ❤️
I'm grateful for everything I have, because I know so very many people do have it worse than me.
I'm grateful that I make enough money to have three beautiful little girls I sponsor, who all want to grow up to help others as doctors, nurses, and police officers.
I'm grateful for the alcohol I've been drinking to get over the fact I'll lose my therapist if I lose my insurance, because the thought of losing her is killing me.
I'm also grateful for Netflix, because I'm watching Netflix with my margaritas and popcorn.
I have a lot to be grateful for. I know that. But the things that are breaking me down are so much more powerful than those that build me up. And I'm so sorry to my best friend for saying that.
@BeeLeigh
Wow my words are some of what you say here...well words I can not say.
Omg you guys!! I'm sorry, I didn't mention you! I really am so grateful for all of you. I love you guys so much. I have no "in person" friends in my life. You guys are all I have. You all really do mean just so so so much to me. I don't know what I'd do without you guys ❤️
im thankful for 7cups
im thankful for the milestones my SN nephew is finally making he is light of my life
im thankful for my job
and im thankful to be able walk better again
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Thanks Rumple, good post. I love the book Toa of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff- There is also the Te of Piglet, but it didn't hit me as hard- they were made to explain Buddhism to western thinkers.
Anyway, I have lots of gratitue for Family, friends, dogs, music, sunshine. an amazing view, my life etc.
Things I can have more gratitude include for myself, my body, and how far I've come. I could also show more gratitude by making more of an effort to contact friends who live far away.
On another note, I leave for vacation tomorrow for ten days. I'm going to put my account in self care mode starting today because it will help me compartmentalize and enjoy the trip more. I enjoy hearing from you all, but I'm going into say "a blanket fort" for the next week and a half. I'll check in again on the 25th of June.
Hugs and I wish you all the best, Mary
@ Enjoy your vacation, Mary! :) Be well.
Oh I was turning into a grumpy cat again so this is a well timed exercise for me...
I'm thankful for the support I've gotten in this community that helped me get started with building up a life again. I'm thankful for the people who accept me the way I am and are there for me when I reach out and sometimes even when I don't. I'm thankful for the lovely summer weather. I'm thankful for being able to live in a beautiful place and in a civilized country where I can feel reasonably safe. I'm thankful for finally having more energy again so I can do more of all the things I want to do. I'm thankful for my creative mind and my abilities. I'm thankful for access to the internet with all the knowledge and contacts. I'm thankful for getting a new chance. I'm thankful for all the good people that have kept my spirits up lately. I'm thankful for getting into therapy. I'm thankful for things finally changing mostly for the better. I'm thankful for cameras that help me remember good times and beautiful experiences. I'm thankful for cute animal videos! And for animals in general. And plants.... Hmm food... Cake!!
I think I'm feeling better lol
@hereigoagain
Hi HereAgain
Having a safe, secure, community is a very good thing to be thankful for. Yes having some energy to be able to do daily things sure does lift the spirit. WOW- thank you for sharing all these things with me. Also opened my eyes on a few things I need to be more thankful for.
@RumpleSteeleSkin
What I am thankful for in no particular order:
I am thankful to be alive, to have my children around me, the ability to hear the birds sing and for air conditioning, when it works. I am thankful, that I am still here... and I hope that I can make a difference in someones day... at least today. I'm thankful that I can still laugh, and that I don't cry so very much. I am thankful for a good nights sleep last night. I am thankful that life seems to be going on... and if I'm lucky, I can be a part of it.
@navyTiger7316
Those are very good things to be thankful for. Glad you are here. :)
I am grateful for being European, although right now I am so so home sick next month I get to go one of my homes. I am going to spend a week with granny and granddad in the UK which I am so looking forward to. Then hopefully in, maybe August, I can go home to Spain. So although I crying because of the home sickness I am grateful that I have two really amazing homes. I guess that is the good part of being in a place which does not feel like home it feels amazing when I can go home.
@AmalieAnne
Anne wow traveling and spending time with grandma and granddad is something to be thankful for. As well as feeling that you have a good home to call home. Thank you for sharing this

@RumpleSteeleSkin I just have to be brave enough to go on a plane by myself for the first time. So I guess I will be grateful for a friendly Air Canada person *fingers crossed*
Those are all wonderful things to be thankful for. Im so glad for ur nephew as well as you doing better
