I've just watched the movie, 'The theory of everything', which is about Dr Stephen Hawking, his diagnosis of motor neurone disease, and his subsequent writing of the book 'a brief history of time'. Ten million copies sold apparently, so it seems there are lots of super intelligent people out there. I don't think I'd get past the first chapter! Space, the universe, and black holes don't particularly pique my interest. But Dr Hawkings does. Here's a guy who had huge potential and was then struck down in his prime by such a debilitating disease, which robbed him of his ability to move and to talk. But he's found ways to be heard, and is inspirational in how he's lived his life and influenced so much in the world of science and astronomy.

Obviously we weren't all made to be physicists, but we all have the ability to fight back against the odds, stay curious and positive, and live our lives to our full potential. But sometimes we lack that belief, other times we lack the desire. Trauma and PTSD can have such a profound effect on our sense of who we are and what we're capable of.

Dr Stephen Hawking says never, ever give up - and I'd like to invite you all to think of those words today. What could you achieve if you didn't give up, if you pushed yourself beyond what you believe your limitations are, if you surprised yourself with your confidence and determination? What support do you need to muster that belief, and to fulfil your potential? Or if that's all too much, (and I know I sometimes bang on), why not just drop by to say hello? You'll be made very welcome :)

@DeborahUK

I am tired of "pushing" myself and pushing and keep pushing myself...only to fail, and fall flat on my face. I have spent decadeS "pulling" myself up off the ground every time trials slam me down, or I screw my life up by trying so hard to make my life work so being alive is at least tollerable. My life is going nowhere no matter how super-humanly I fight on and on and ON. I don't have my whole life ahead of me...most of my life (years on earth), are behind me and composed of nothing but a long, long series tests/trials, traumatic experiences, abuse, failures, & lastly, but most definitely not by far the least, REJECTIONS. You, and others encourage us to "KEEP Going!" and not to give up. But I have. I have NOwhere to go, nothing to "aim for" as far as personal/life goals go. No "Bucket List", and nothing and no one to stick around for, and nothing I'm leaving behind.. a mess and a lot of debt (not credit card or anything of the sort.. Mostly medical debt). I'm sorry I'm so negative & down, but it's a fictional stretch to state any positives. I thinkbone of my greatest difficulties in life is, honestly, never wanting any part of it. My parents said I use to talk about wanting to die well before I was even 5, and decadeS after "giving life a chance," "giving things time," and "holding on to faith & hope," I only feel stronger than ever about wanting my unwanted life to end.

@caterpillargirl

Its very hard to know how to respond to that caterpillar, other than to offer you a hug and say Im so sorry life has beaten you up so badly.

I will just remind you of your own words though:

When you find yourself cocooned in isolation... and cannot find your way out of the darkness, remember that this is similar to the place where caterpillars grow their wings.
