Here in the UK we currently have a programme on the TV where a number of people have been stranded on a desert island, (they chose this), with no food or shelter, and limited water, and they have to find water, forage for food, make fire and build shelter.

It's surprising how quickly their gung-ho attitude has melted away, now they're hungry, cold and thirsty. There are none of the home comforts they usually take for granted, no phones, no shops, no cigarettes, no alcohol, they're not even with people they know.

It made me think about how much we just come to accept in our life, the good things we have, the things that make our lives better, and yet we often barely notice them. Trauma, and the effect that can have on a person, can rob us of that appreciation. In fact even for people not affected by trauma, that gratitude attitude can easily be forgotten. Yes, I have a phone, but I want a better one. I have a car, but I want a newer one. I have a home, but I want a bigger one.

So I wonder if we pause for today, and notice the things we're grateful for. Please feel free to also share whatever's on your mind, but don't forget to take a moment to consider, what am I thankful for today?
