Hello everyone and good morning.

How are you today? is there anything you'd like to share about your weekend?

I've noticed that I have no been all that happy lately... decided to take a long walk along the PCH by myself on Saturday. Got distracted and ended up eating a fancy brunch by myself. It was quite nice. I have not done anything solo for really long time and I just came to a realization that it's much needed. Do you like to spend time by yourself? What do you like to do? If you don't like spending time by yourself, what do you do to destress?

quote of the day! What's yours?

Hi Jackie - Before I got married I used to spend a lot of time alone, like most of the time lol. Even though it was lonely sometimes it was easier and felt safer than being around people, which I find really stressful sometimes. Even now that I'm married I need to have time alone or else I lose myself, get wrapped up in the people around me. It's easy to lose my boundaries around other people, I just defer to them a lot. But I'm working on it. I had a really good therapy session today so I'm happy about that. Thanks for listeniing heart

I hear you! I think a lot of us parents go through transition as similar as yours. I do recall spending more time alone before I had my daughter. I also enjoyed being alone and found comfort in knowing I wasn't around others. I still don't like being in large crowds and prefer to be home. I am 100% home body and there is no shame! I love spending time in my pjs all day. hehe

Hello everyone

I am an adult survivor of childhood trauma, and have in the last 2 months broken the silence after 39 years and started on my healing journey after a damily crisis forced me to have to deal with all my traumas.

It has really not been easy, because I have been feeling super overwhelmed by the rush and flood of different emotions that I had buried deep down inside and now don't know what to do with them.

But by being a listener and trying to help others, has really helped me see that I am actually not alone and that what I am feeling is actually quite normal.

So I want to encourage anyone that has any doubts of breaking their silence to really considering doing it in order to start healing.

Take Care!

hi Whisper, how amazing that you're finally out of your shell. It seems whatever we put under the rug never really disappear. Without closure even if it means bringing back alot of hurtful memories are sometimes how we need to heal. Validating everything and understanding that you're not alone is a huge part of my recovery. I am glad you found us and I hope to see you around.

I used to think I despised being alone. Back when I was living in an unsafe environment, I never had ANY privacy (not even where I was supposed to..) and I thought that was normal. I also get energized being around people, so when I was with people who WERE healthy and safe to be around, I was very happy and wanted to be around them all the time, so I didn't have to go home. Then, when I finally was free from my situation, I lived with friends. They didn't really have anywhere for me to stay, so I slept in their living room. I was so happy to be away from my toxic environment that I didn't mind the lack of privacy. Now I've since moved in with my very generous brother, and I have my own room, my own space. I used to be terrified of being alone, because I had a lot of intrusive thoughts, and it was easy for me to get flashbacks and to feel paranoid and unsafe. I still work on it. However, as I recover and learn and grow, I find that I spend more and more time alone with myself. In getting used to being in my own company, I'm very slowly becoming accustomed to it,and even needing it! I find myself missing my own room, my own, private space! I find myself savoring the quiet reflection I get to do. I thank my lucky stars for the privelege to be alone, and to anyone who finds fear in their own company: hang in there. Don't be afraid of yourself, because you're all you've got. You loves you. Listen to them, and approach in baby steps, and I promise it will be easier and easier. :)

@betterchoices

Hi Betterchoices, Thank you for sharing that with us today. I totally see where you're coming from. Perhaps you found comfort in being around safe people. Perhaps safe people meant you're in your safe place. I once felt that being with my husband at the time was where I found comfort. But when we started to drift apart as married couples, I stopped feeling safe around him. Being around people we trust can and often make us feel right at home.

You're right on that one. We are our own best company and it's not easy for some to feel that way. Sounds like you're in a much better place emotionally and physically. I am happy that you have a support and have such positive look into your current situation. Thank you for checking in and you have a good day!
