Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in Thursday October 11th
Hello, lovelies! It's H again, and I'm very happy to be doing a check-in with you this week!
I read a very good article today about anxiety being misdiagnosed as trauma. You can read it HERE (trigger warnings for mentions of abuse and trauma). Here's some questions that came to mind while reading that you can answer if you'd like!
⭐ Do you ever feel like you have been misdiagnosed (or have you)?
⭐ What kind of techniques have you learned for coping with complex trauma?
⭐Do you think people with generalized anxiety are more likely to develop complex trauma, or are they completely different?
And if you'd rather not take part in this, I would love to hear how you're doing and if you have any plans for the day!
Also! We will be having an open chat at 7:00 pm EST with myself, Tuna, Kate and RavenIntheLabrynth. We hope to see you there!!
@Heather225 Hi. Awh shucks, I'm just reading this now (7cups time of 1:19am Friday) so I obviously missed the Open Chat at 7pm. Sad me because 1. that could have been very helpful for me and 2. I was not busy, rather not doing anything super important, at that time.
But hey, today my streak is 13! Daily streak = 13 days :)
One thing I dislike about PTSD, trauma, GAD, anxiety, and these sorts of Dx (diagnoses) in general is ... all the triggers and flashbacks that one 'finds.' Sometimes a triggering thing, picture, or subject may be more obvious to you and those you can try to avoid. Other triggers, I personally don't know are triggers for me until someone mentions it or writes (if on 7cups) or ... And suddenly I'm all back in the traumatic event. Not cool. Very not cool. It seems these times are harder for me if they occur when I am not at home (which is probably close to 95% of the time). After one of my counseling sessions here recently, I was writing and asked myself, okay what do I want? I want to be with my SFO. Okay, so go to where SFO is? (which at that time was not my/our home - and that meant potentially dealing with people I didn't really want to deal with.) However, I decided shortly thereafter to drive to 'where is SFO' and pet him and love him and give hugs and get puppy kisses ... As someone recently said to me, I do have an amazing relationship w my SFO. He loves me lots - and I love him lots too!
H, I know I didn't answer any of the Qs above, really. I didn't read the article you mentioned. It reminded me of some mostly self-given homework to do more research on hugs. Anyway, okay .... see y'all later! It's late!!! Good night, <3 Platy
