Please if anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it.

I have recently started seeing a new guy. He is really lovely, and happy to go slow. But he wants to know everything about my past.

He’s the first guy I actually want to tell about my childhood abuse, but I don’t know how to.

I feel like maybe writing it all down ans giving it to him one day, just as we say goodbye, so that if he decides it’s too much for him he can just not message again? Or should I just be brave and face him about it and talk about it factually?

Any advice would be really appreciated!

Hello @amiableSpring1507

I have been in a very similar situation and even though writing everything down feels safer, there might be a ton of questions in his head when he reads it. I suggest you be strong and share things in person, don’t overburden yourself with getting it all done in one go, take your time, be comfortable, maybe surround yourself with familiar surroundings for comfort while you both talk.

I hope he will understand.

Also, your childhood abuse doesn’t define you, it was never your fault and it still is not, please don’t feel guilty about it, be proud of yourself for braving through everything and still having the courage to try to trust and love again.

If anyone leaves you for the rough past you have had, or decides to stay for the amazing and strong person you are, says more about them, it is not about you.

you are bold and beautiful and you deserve to be loved and celebrated. I hope this is your chance at love.

ps. As for me, it was tough, but I talk to him, it’s been over 2 years since I have known him and we still talk about my past when I feel overwhelmed by it and I want to share; beautiful things take time to build.

All the Best♥️
