I've never loved my Dad. He would always get drunk or high and scream at me and my brother, but me mostly. I get anxiety everytime i go near him. When he yells at me its most likely because of small stupid things like i didn't shut the bathroom door. He won't stop yelling at me, even after I'm crying and I can only escape if I agree with everything He says it if my mum interrupts. If my interrupts i race down to my room and hear him scream at her. He has threatened me multiple times. He constantly uses put downs like 'fat slob' which gives me even more anxiety. I don't know if this is emotional abuse and if it is, what to do about it.

@Kito26

"any act including confinement, isolation, verbal assault, humiliation, intimidation, infantilization, or any other treatment which may diminish the sense of identity, dignity, and self-worth"

This is one definition of emotional abuse. Do you feel like your circumstances fit into this definition?

@Kito26 I'm sorry you are treated this way by your father. He is definitely abusing you psychologically. Unfortunately, there's not much, if anything, you will be able to do to change his behavior. You need to get as much support as you can to help you cope with that abuse. 7 Cups is a great place for that. I'm glad you're here! smiley

@kito26

This is definitely emotional abuse, in the care act law of the U.K. Any name calling, or distress caused, is deemed as abuse of a person.

Im really sorry that it's building to anxiety, and it will be dfficult to approach him about it. I urge you to connect to a listener on here when you feel low and need support, just to talk things through,
