He ismean and verbally abusive to her.. He is really hot tempered and has a serious anger management issues... sometimes, when they fought i just want to yell at him to stop blaming her for everything..he keeps doing that..i know that he's stressed about work, but he shouldn't lash it out on my mom.. my mom is just like me, keeping it all in her chest..but i know that she's hurt and embarassed in front of me.. once, my dad yell at her and said some hurtfulstuffs(that i'll never forget nor forgive for the rest of my live)in front of all of her children just because of something really insignificant (hint: the wrong type of soybean ketchup).. both my mom and i cried that night..i can't even say 'i love you' properly to her because i was bawling my eyes out and those words just can't seem to slip out of my mouth..i just wished for her to be happy..but i wasreally clueless.. i was 19 at that time..what was i supposed to do?? school, teachers, friends, they don'tteach me how to deal with this..the only thing i could do at that time was keptit in my chest andwent to bed sobbing badly..i can't tell my friends.. they have suchalmostperfect relationship with their family..i can only tell this story anonymously..in fact, there's no one to turn to..except God..

I can totally relate. ....

My story changed from that though. My dad changed. He had to quit drinking which helped a lot. And other life changes happened. Anyway my mom and dad are still together but he has mellowed out a whole lot. The whole family is still traumatized so it is hard to get close to dad but it is better.

Why not turn to God? Ask him to draw your dad to him. I found some articles about couples that might help him if he would read them. Sometimes silent helpings help better. It might work if he saw the link himself and got the idea to read it himself.

Here is the link for the articles. https://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/family/couples-parents/

I know that with my dad that he went through A LOT growing up himself and probably was never taught how to deal with problems or feelings. I can tell that he is a softy even though he doesn't express it to us. He does care. It is still hard for me to talk to him. I think, with my dad, he wants to interact and talk with my mom but he just doesn't know how to do it.
