Hi,

I wanted to see if anyone would could help me with a legal question. Me and my wife have taken an interest in trying to help some kids in our area. The parents of these kids have lost custody because of the mothers drug addiction and the kids are living with their aunt. However, the aunt has allowed the parents to move in with her and he kids. My question is, is this allowed by law? Are the parents allowed to live in he same house even though they've lost custody?

We we just feel so bad for these kids. Even the aunt they live with isn't in her right mind. We realize there is very little we can actually do to help them, but if the law is being broken maybe we could help. Any help is appreciated.

@RooMoo

Could you share which country (and state) you live in? The custody laws are different depending on where you live.

It sounds like the parents lost custody, or rather, had their custody taken away because they posed a danger to the children. If this is the case, you may be able to report the situation to Child Protection Services (the US name at least).

Ok, that's what I was thinking too. I live in Tennessee. Thanks for your response.

The Child Abuse Hotline is a good place to start, especially if it seems like the parents / aunt are blatantly not taking care of the kids.

Here is the laws for child neglect and endangerment for TN.
