Hi guys I’m Nor🙋🏻‍♀️

I experienced physical, sexual, and emotional abuse from my narcissistic, abusive father when I was 14 and again at 16.

I’m now 23 and in the process of healing.

My question to anyone who has been through something similar and has healed:

What does complete healing feel like?

And what thoughts do you have about the traumatic event after you’ve healed?

I would love to hear from someone even if you haven’t fully healed yet but are working toward it. At the very least, I just need hope, strength, and support❤️

@Nnornor24.   TW. I’m not sure that there is “complete healing “. In my case I consider healing being able to have relationships (for a long time I couldn’t ). Also having ways to cope with things like flashbacks and other symptoms of ptsd.   Before some healing it used to be sickening, terrifying and  filled with feelings of shame to think about traumatic experiences. It still is unpleasant and can cause anxiety sometimes to think about those experiences but I consider this an improvement!

Hi nor, i am so sorry for what happened to. I really can feel you. I also abused since 5 until 13 by cousins and neighbors, now i am 20. and feels so deeply hurt and sadness. So for your question how complete healing feel" that's a hard question and you can't know the answer right now, believe me it will take time, so be kind to your self, and good luck.

Hello, I have some understanding of your grief.

So sorry for your suffering. There are people out there who understand and can be helpful.

I want to be as positive as I can because there is always hope. Don't be surprised if you find the need for therapy at some point. Healing takes time, so try to be as patient as you can.

Briefly (I hope), I will share some of my story. I'm approaching retirement age to give you reference.

When I was around 3 years old until maybe 6 years old I was sexually abused by my aunt. As a young boy I did not know what was happening to me. I don't remember telling my mother about it, but she always said SADLY 😞 children should be seen and not heard....

All of this was repressed in my mind for so many years. It only came gushing out about 5 years ago right after my divorce. The sexual abuse has caused me issues all my life.

Mostly hypersexuality, PE, and some fears of getting to close to people or even having the courage to start a relationship.

A couple of years ago I did do almost 1 1/2 years of therapy which did help some, especially with some of the shame and also the forgiveness needed in order to move on and work towards a healthier mental situation.

I hope you stay strong, have faith and know that there good people out there.

@Nnornor24 — I was raised by a narcissistic mother until I was 49 and I went no contact from her and never saw her again, as she'd wanted!

I'm 62 and I'm pretty much completely healed but I believe with that level of trauma you gotta keep yourself in check. Idc what anyone says but it helps when you talk about it, I promise it does. The more I talked about it in a third kind of person maybe I didn't feel any pain but I knew that when abuse actually happened I was numbed. It was verbal abuse only thank God but they compare to those who had to be deprogrammed from brainwashing that the abuse that children of narcissistic. parents have to live with is a high level no one could understand it

I believe we are always in a self improvement mode or we should be to give us the pillows we need to lie comfortably on the floor and that is soft managing ourself and we all can do that. Remember, "this too shall pass' and I will do whatever I can do to help you;-)

@Nnornor24 — Remember that there is ALWAYS hope. Where there is life there is always hope. Your voice matters and your words matter. You are enough;-)

Hey Nor, I’m very sorry for what you went through, no child deserves that and I truly hope he struggles enough life for making you go through all of this, starting a new page can sound very hard, but also embracing yourself and ending your relationship with this person can be very helpful, making healthy circles and people you can share with how you feel, healing is a journey, and not every journey is the same, but loving yourself and finding a new reason to smile can make you think less about the past, consider new beginnings like the end of your healing journey, I wish you a happy life and a peaceful one, stay strong
