Abuzive parent :(
My father is verbally abusive.
All my life, I tried to please him—even if that meant not being honest with myself. A few months ago, I realized it’s wrong to sacrifice your own identity just to make someone happy, especially when that person acts like a child… So I started trying to be honest, and that made him very angry.
He’s always been angry. He constantly blames and criticizes my mom, me, and my sisters—even for things he did wrong, or for things that aren’t anyone’s fault at all.
The tension I feel inside stays with me all day. And just recently, because I asked him if I could go to a small church gathering, he told me I’m a disappointment, that I’m rebellious.
I go to bed and wake up, and as soon as I wake up, I feel that tension again—it stays with me until I fall asleep. If I even sleep.
There was one night I was so tense I didn’t sleep at all. The next day, I didn’t feel sleepy, I forgot to eat, didn’t even feel hunger. I only felt this huge pain inside when I was laughing..
This morning I randomly woke up at 5 a.m., and I was sad I had woken up. I had been dreaming something weird, something that made no sense—but in that strange dream-world, I felt like I escaped. When I woke up and the thoughts came flooding back, I realized I was sad to have left that fake world behind and returned to this one.
Once, I had a panic attack. I was shaking—and instead of helping me, he came in and started yelling about how awful my mom is.
(By the way, my mom is incredible.)
@modestTown8811 I'm so sorry your in that situation😥 it's truly heartbreaking when I hear about youngsters scared in their own home😥 living in a fantasy dream sounds nice 💖 just keep thinking about when you can finally leave that house and live out a real dream life 💖 is there a school therapist thing you can talk to? I'm really sorry you have to go through this🙁 gives you a giant tiny hug 💗 never give up on hope 💖
I’m sorry because he makes you feels like this ☹️
I just want to tell you that it’s not only you who suffer from this father , same to me I done a lot of mistakes because of him and how he treated me do I will going to forgive him one day ? I don’t think so but as always acting like I accept it .
Just think it’s temporary pain ofc one day you will grow live alone or married and leave with your husband and he be a kind person to you 🫂.
Just try to focus more on yourself and find a way to make things works better for you because in this life all the people included our parents are characters to teach us something BUT we don’t need to follow them life is short .
I love you and I hope one day you find peace 💞🫂🫂

I get that pain. I went through something really similar as a kid. I had learning difficulties, and even though I tried hard, my dad thought I was just being lazy. Starting around age 10, he would beat me—not every day or every week, but often enough to crush my spirit. Even when I curled up in a corner trying to protect myself, he kept going. By the time I was about 11 and started fighting back, he stopped hitting me and switched to verbal abuse instead. He’d tell me I’d never amount to anything, that I’d end up working in the garbage. That went on until I finally left home.
