C- PTSD
Has anyone gotten over childhood trauma, like do the patterns actually go away with time and having healthy connections?
anxiousness and awfulness you feel all the time around people, even though they're good, does it go away?
Honestly that is exhausting for people to have reassuring you all the time
I often find myself messing up relations with everyone, idk how to decribe it, i feel like I don't belong or deserve warmth it doesn't feel genuine or that i earned it unless i did something in return. etc etc
Or I feel completely alienated, like society is in a box and I have to watch it from outside with lump in my throat
@YougotthisNaush. I had very disturbed relationship patterns. It wasn’t easy and I needed many years of professional help. I was eventually able to feel more comfortable around people and even have a long term relationship.
Hi and sorry you feel this way….. I want to say as a fellow CPTSD warrior as I like to say now…. Patterns don’t really disappear especially if you don’t recognize and work at it…. I’m still in therapy and it has been a game changer and so reassuring….. hope this helps wish you all the best fellow warrior

I just learned about CPTSD a couple of months ago and I feel your pain. Almost makes me feel silly and like I have this constant anxiety that something is always about to go wrong and sometimes i don't want to leave my apartment for weeks. Hang in there! At least now I know people recognize this and it helps to not feel so inadequate for sometimes being paralyzed by the flash backs or getting anxiety over simple daily tasks.
Hi Naush, @YougotthisNaush
C-PTSD / Developmental trauma is not something you completely get over as much as learn to live with, through learning to adjust to more healthy ways of engaging with people and the world, developing coping strategies and understanding from what you've been through. It is more than possible to have healthy connections and manage patterns, along with developing a better self-image, self-esteem and reduce anxiety, the effect of trauma overall can be lessened, but it does take work, with a decent trauma-aware therapist and/or on your own with workbooks.
It is very exhausting, and a nightmare until developing the skills to manage better, I completely relate, and hope you can find the way through which best suits and helps you.
