Limerence

Currently I have obsessive thoughts: I talk everything that happened to me to my limerent object in my head. I guess I will act weird aroung him next time we will meet (he is my psychiatrist).

I suppose I should find another doctor, preferably some politely professional but caring woman. I am not supposed to like my doctor that much, they just should be good enough.

But I dont like idea of changing. Also, I almost ceirtanly will just develop limerence for somebody else... And what is the point then.

Well, maybe its important to change limerent objects from time to time to not become too attached?

I always underenstimate the power of limerence, I never know, how bad it can become...

@AlexandraRound

Change can be difficult but ultimately, your healing and personal development is what matters the most 💙🤗

@AlexandraRound Limerence often comes from a deep need for validation or unfulfilled emotional needs. It could be an attachment issue.

This has happened before? Do you think you would be able to tell your psychiatrist what's happening? It would be pretty scary but as a professional he's probably dealt with this before. If he can't handle it or is judgemental then you could change psychiatrists?

As you said, you would most likely develop this with someone else, unless you take a deeper look into why it's happening and work through it. Just my thoughts on it. 💜

Thanks. I can manage asking for more distance, not sure, if I can manage explaining the reason for it.

@AlexandraRound Could you email him? Sometimes I will write notes or emails to my therapist about something I need to talk with him about and I'm afraid I'll forget it

@AlexandraRound

Limerence can feel powerful and confusing. It might help to talk openly with your psychiatrist or another professional about these feelings so you can get support without having to figure it all out alone.

@AlexandraRound

I'm currently going through a similar reaction, my therapist has suggested journaling and a couple of CBT practices. It isn't my first rodeo and is down to emotional dysfunction from ADHD in my case, overpowering empathy.

@AlexandraRound

If you follow the link to the podcast it might help, I've only recently started with DBT but it resonates with me.

The entire podcast is well worth a listen, I believe it's on YouTube as well, i'm particularly concentrating on trying to pause on noticing emotional responses and not reacting without thinking first, not having much joy yet, but time will tell.
