TV Shows, socail media and cptsd and trauma and more. (NEED KIND SUPPORT)
(I have a headsup in my bio before anyone does respond so please read it. I would again prefer trauma informed ppl, possibly ppl who experienced severe ptsd or CPTSD to engage since i relate to that and dissosaitive disorders / maldaptive daydreaming, everyone else, aslong as u have kind, supportive messages are also welcome but again yk? Judgemental ppl absolute do not engage. Or ppl who dont have perspective.)
Yall ever regret watching a TV show espc if u have cptsd n maladaptive daydreaming but u cant let go of it cus its still a active protective response and then u have to see more bull and regret even looking at it even if its just searching questions? -.- IK its been common in my generation to daydream abt these stories but theyre so horrible when u rlly r trying to recieve something innocent like a good time, comfort, or safe daydreams, then come the horrible media by twisted fans and then u realize the show itself is twisted and at the end ur like "I wish i never watched this." also the peer pressure to watch that stuff too. THATS REAL. I might delete this post since i just needed to feel validated and seen and dont have anyone rn to speak to but i do hope i have some ppl who cna relate becus this is a common thing espc with socail media. Also its in tv shows, movies, animes, mangas, AI, and it is a issue.
@berrycheesecake90 also idk if theres any listeners or possibly supportive chat members who can relate who maybe might be the same age as me this is i noticed common in peer groups my age maybe even it doesnt have to be the same age but anyone whos available and understands. (might delete this too idk)
@berrycheesecake90 There have been times when I've picked a movie thinking it would bring comfort only to have it trigger me. Our minds use maladaptive daydreaming or dissociation as a protective response to cope with trauma. It's not something we can just switch off.
@mytwistedsoul Yeah ik, im not sure what you meant at the end of the first paragraph, i dont think u were judging me ? i hope not , i do know MD is a pattern, and to break patterns u need to change the rountine, well i say the reward aswell.
And yeh it does suck when something innocent or something u wanted to be innocent, turn into something corrupted. Or you have been peer pressured to watch something bad but then maybe u did not have the tools and safe spaces back then and now have a bond to it but u want to break the bond because it is not helpful, but the MD is still active because it is activly trying to save me.
I could try making a list, maybe, but i have tried other shows, i am trying to find a irl safe area but its not as easy as people think espc if ur still surviving.
@berrycheesecake90 I also was mainly looking to just confide and discuss this topic, i would usually share this with maybe listeners or if i had a trusted person irl, but i dont have that rn and none of my listeners that i trust have responded yet.
@berrycheesecake90 Oh gosh no judgement at all! I'm sorry if what I said made you think I was judging you in anyway. I've had people tell me to get over things or let them go. Or they seemed to think I should always be in control. I would if I could. (I dissociate a lot ) That's why I said it's not just something we can shut off.
@mytwistedsoul Hello, i do have a question, do u know any listeners that understand Maladaptive daydreaming?
@berrycheesecake90 also i feel like cups should have a cptsd n maladaptive daydreaming option to look for listeners would help alot
@berrycheesecake90 I'm sorry I don't know any listeners that handle maladaptive daydreaming but you could post something in this thread - https://www.7cups.com/forum/generalsupport/Classifieds_360/ListenerClassifiedsSeptember2026ListenersPostHereandMembersCheckOutOurListenersAcceptingNewChats_389564/ and hopefully someone will have an understanding of it or know a listener that does. For cptsd, listeners usually have trauma checked as one of the things they're willing to discuss but it could be ptsd or cptsd.
@berrycheesecake90 I know exactly how hard it is yo survive cptsd and traumatic experiences. If you want to have a sincere chat and share what you feel I am happy to be there.
@berrycheesecake90 so feel free to text me 😊
