I have been living with sexual assault for years and now I’m being told I should learn to say rape because that’s what happened. Am I being told wrong, I don’t know why to do or who to talk to.
@weallcanusehelp I don't like that word either😞 sometimes it's best to put the bad things that happened to us, in our own way, our own words. Cause then its how we understand it. Huggs you ❤
Never feel pushed in to saying things you don't want to. I find the work very hard to use. And I always use the term SA. I find the term a lot easier to comprehend. It describes exactly what happened and it is a correct term.

I know that some people tell others to "face" what happened and to "call it as it is" because they may think they are helping, but "rape" is a very strong word that makes many people, including the person who lived with the sexual assault, uncomfortable.
It's your truth and right to feel that you don't like to say the word "rape"; you have the right to decide for yourself what words you want to use to describe what happened to you. Anyone who tells you that you are wrong might be trying to help, but they are coming into it with a lack of empathy and not seeing that your side of things matters most, and your opinion and perspective is very valid.
