Therapy concerns
My T wants me to report my CSA. She's encouraging me to do it but I don't think I am ready. I don't know if I ever will be. My T thinks it's part of me taking back control. I told T that I'm not ready and the thought terrifies me. I don't have much trust in the police either and I think it would tip me over the edge. I'm disappointed in my T as they don't seem to be completely dropping the topic even though I asked them too and there convinced that it's only a matter of time till I do report my abuser and I just need to work on myself first... I really like my T been working together for 6 months and this has me questioning my trust in them now, as it seems like they have their own agenda. If it matters at all I'm UK based, England. Suppose my question is, is my T overstepping my boundaries? Any advice appreciated.
Hey @anxiousmelon5991, I'm sorry to hear that you are going through all that. What counts as overstepping your boundaries is very much up to what you personally decide is too far. You can make complaints to the UKDP about your therapist if you think they have breached their code of conduct or even if you just have some concerns. https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/ukcp-members/complaints/how-to-make-a-complaint/#:~:text=However%2C%20if%20you%20don't,9978%20or%20020%207014%209499.
Thanks for your reply. My T says it's their job to encourage and push me to take back control and report. I feel like yes they can encourage me or tell me my options, but shouldn't be pushing anything on me? Especially when I've made my feelings clear...
@anxiousmelon5991 Yeah, if you've made your feelings clear they definitely are breaking boundaries you've set. I hope you find a better therapist or can resolve this issue with your current one soon.
@anxiousmelon5991. I agree with exploring options but not pushing like you said.
