Introducing myself.
Hello there. I'm doing this while my guard is relatively down, as I'm in the come-down from a panic attack right now and came to 7 cups for comfort, mindfulness breathing and reassurance.
I figure I should just put my story out there and get rid of the energy that's looming over me right now. Not to get into it too deeply but I was in the military and had an accident where I fell approximately 20ft.
I had a concussion, dislocations, broken bones and went into shock at the hospital. I stayed there for nearly a week and received some titanium pieces to put my arm back together. I like to think of it as robocop.
The entire situation changed me for life. I have PTSD from the playout of the accident, from everything leading up to it, the event and the aftermath. I struggle with depression and anxiety, and recently both have been getting worse after a 2 year lull. The accident was five and a half years ago, at this point.
I'm trying to deal with it but I feel a lot of shame and confusion, though I'm always seeking different ways to deal with my situation. Chronic pain doesn't help with anything and now, from hitting my head, it appears that some wiring has resulted in some loss of hearing which is frustrating. painful and isolating. Just one more thing to have to deal with, I guess, but I know I can deal with it.
In moving forward with my life, I'm in my last year, last term of college right now and the pressure there has been affecting me as well and causing a lot of lurking feelings to come up. I've already made an appointment with my psychiatrist as of tonight once I got through the attack to talk about med adjustments - it's helped before, and right now I think that it needs to be reassessed. That's about it for now, I guess.
Hope everyone is as well as they can be at this time.
Hello Ktrozz, welcome to the forum. Panic attacks are pretty scary and it's hard to fight something in your own mind. I'm glad you decided to make a post, sharing the problem seems to help and there are many people here who understand and deal with similar things. If nothing else it makes you feel less alone. I know it's not easy, I've only been on here since Last month, but it does make a difference( sharing your thoughts/problems)
I'm sorry to hear about your accident, it left you with numerous challenges. I hope things get better for you.
Hang in there and stay strong
Brian

Thank you for those words, Brian. And it's true, being here does make me feel less alone. Even logging on today and seeing this message from you lifted my spirits, so for that I thank you.
The accident is unfortunate but good things have come from it and I have to remind myself of that when my disabilities and mental health are making life more difficult. It's all an ebb and flow and it's just unfortunate that right now, everything is a little low. It will pass, though, and I'm very grateful to have found seven cups. It's really been helping, even in the few days that I've been here. =)
Thank you for the warm welcome.

@Brian737
This is fantastic, thank you. I'm not in USA but I am in Canada and I just shifted over to .Ca and I was able to access the book for free. Really, sincerely, thank you. I am always hungry for new information and tools to use and I will be reading this right away.
@KTrozz That's great, I'm in Canada too but worked in the US for 20yrs so I kept my US Amazon account open. The guy that wrote the book teaches seminars on dealing with anxiety, at least I think it's him. Anyway, glad you got it, I received an e-mail from him saying it was free today.
Take care
