I think I was abused
TW!
I have been thinking about the way I was treated as a child, by my parents and my other family, and I think I have come to the conclusion that I was abused.
Now I wasn't abused horrifically like some people were, so I feel like I can't talk about what I went through because it isn't as bad as what others have gone through, so I'm having to force myself to post this.
For as long as I can remember my parents ruled with an iron fist. If they wanted something done it needed to be done that second. Half the time they wouldn't tell me, just expect me to know, even if it wasn't something that they had ever asked me to do before. If I ever slightly inconvenienced them, I was screamed at, cussed at, whipped, they broke my things, and called me horrible names and made sure I knew that I was lesser than them.
More times than I can count I was whipped so hard I would bleed. My mother has busted my lip, bruised my legs and arms, or slapped me so hard my vision when black for a few minutes. My father would call me fat, worthless, useless, a mistake, and honestly worse than all that he would tell me I must not love him and my mom of I didn't do exactly what they wanted me to. He would threaten me if I did anything that he felt was wrong. The way he spoke to me and treated me led me to think that was normal, which then led me into a four year long abusive relationship. If your father treats you like dirt your entire life then it seems normal when a boyfriend does it.
There is so much more to this, but I feel like if I add too much more no one will read this...so yeah. My question is, is being treated this way normal? Is that just how people parent their children and am k being stupid and ungrateful?
@KatMasaki
no it is not normal and pretty horrifying ...... many people should not be parents ... it is frightening to me that you even question that it might be normal ... that is incredibly sad.
You’re not wrong. You were definitely mentally abused. They scared you and hurt you psychologically and now you’re thinking back on it and reflecting on it which is a good thing! I’m not the best help since I can barely come to terms with anything. But I think that you should really talk about this more with people and get some help opening your mind to it!
