Not excited for loud noises....
Im not too thrilled with 4th of July. My PTSD reacts very badly to loud abrupt sounds. Who out there agrees?

I'm with you! What are some of the ways that help you relax? I like art, music, writing and dog snuggling to help at different times.
@MKJart Right now I'm at the cowering-in-bed-waiting-for-the-bloody-torment-to-end stage of endurance. Alas, the rain held off, which means a full on nationalistic display of purportedly benign ordinance is underway. FWIW my roommate's dog subscribes to my anxious newsletter.

Dive for cover Amigo! Blanket fort is there. You ok?
@melliotm
Do you have any sound cancelling headphones?
@MKJart No I need to invest in a pair. It's all over now -- my city has a noise bylaw that kicks in at 11pm. Plus, a friend who had locked herself out of her place came over to wait with me until she could get a hold of her landlord for a spare key. So I had company to help distract via good conversation for at least a portion of the barrage. 😌
Still a little shaky but i managed to stay grounded despite the jarring atmosphere.
@melliotm
Good to hear you made it through.
Sames -- sets me right off. Is Canada Day today and I'm totally rooting for rain tonight (which it's done off and on all day, with more in the forecast).
I do okay when I know it's gonna happen. But there's fireworks all over the place for like two weeks and some of them are really big and really close to my home and those ones don't go over very well 😕

Hey there :). I'm going to assume the celebrations are over with. How are you now?
It's great to see you've started a diary here. It's your space to record your thoughts, feelings, hopes, fears, anything you wish really.
If you're happy I may drop by occasionally, as may others. But do say if you'd rather not have comments made. This is your thread, your thoughts. I hope it proves to be cathartic for you 🙂
