Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Trump- angry diary post! Could use some encouragement!
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
It has been for a long time! It was first nationally recognized in 2001.
I was going to post something asking for support because April is a very difficult month for me because of all the advocacy I want to participate in but is emotionally draining and triggering. I second guessed myself and looked it up to be sure it was truly in April. And guess what I saw.

Trump received allegations of assault and has "Declared" April sexual assault awareness month.
I AM FURIOUS!!
Everyone is all "Yay Trump is doing something good!" But they just ignore the fact that he declared something that was already there? Screw him! Screw his tactics to look good by claiming he put something into place that was already there! He just uses his authority to say this instead of doing anything more helpful for the cause! He could donate or designate money for research and prevention! He could be a humble human (as if Trump ever would) and admit the times in his life when he had abused his power and privilege. Pretty much every man has. I can't name one man in my life who hasn't used his privilege at least once in front of me (even the good men).
I'm so angry that it is now 'Trumps' sexual assault awareness month. That would be like 'The KKK's Black History Month" preposterous.

Well I kinda understand what you're coming from, but I feel like even if Trump did something remotly good people would still hate him.
Don't get me wrong, I'm european and hate trump aswell. However for the first time I don't consider what he did wrong, but I consider what people are saying wrong. The fact is "Trump's sexual hassault awareness month" happening is because people are calling it that. People. Not trump. He simply stated what the month was celebrating (unless I genuinly misread what you read here) being aware that already existed.
We know very well trump is not innocent and his followers don't give two f*** about the matter, but again I don't see what he did wrong here.

You're right! It's not that I'm angry that he wanted to promote awareness and prevention!
What I'm angry about is the way he 'declared' it rather than promoting it. It would be like if someone made dinner for all your friends and a different one said "Because I'm the oldest with the most power, I am going to declare it dinner time and share this meal with you!"
And I'm angry at the way people are responding to it too, you're right! It's not that he proclaimed it, it's the way he CLAIMED it. Ya know?
But I do appreciate your response! You kinda helped me see how I'm not communicating well giving some blame to him that's not his fault. He can't control the media

Ohhh got it. Yeah in that sense of him declaring it I admit I find it disrespectful aswell. Unfortunetly Trump is a very entitled individual and overal ignorant :/
